Sunday Link-Off: To The Finish

I’m getting really bad at this linkdump thing. Eventually, I’ll get back to the normal schedule. For now, here’s Scarlett Johansson.

We’ve reached office Christmas party season. The question that’s always being asked is how drunk can you get in front of your co-workers. (Grub Street)

Looking for advice on everything? Then you need to hit up Parks & Rec character Jean-Ralphio. (GQ)

Not surprisingly, ESPN did an episode of SportsCenter dedicated to Tim Tebow that they called TebowCenter. They love themselves a story. Actual sports? Not so much. (Deadspin)

After the jump, not every college bowl game is worth it, some Community love and Nolan North is the video game industry. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: On Vacation

Some minor travel issues prevented me from getting the Sunday links online this week. Travel will also probably limit the number of posts I’ll be making on here for the next couple of weeks. Anyway, enough of that. Here’s Lake Bell who I’m pretty sure is a two-face.

In the 21st century, it’s only appropriate that the Jerry Sandusky case was blown wide open by an internet forum posting. (New York Times)

You’d never imagine who’s one of LSU’s biggest football stars this season. The #1 team in the country has made a star of its punter. (Wall Street Journal)

The Blue Jays are Blue again. They’ve gone back to the future with their new logo and uniform and that can only be a good thing. (Sports Logos)

After the jump, the far-reaching effects of the NBA lockout, more on NBC’s Thursday night and Erin Andrews gets a Gatorade shower. Continue reading

NewsRadio: The Complete Series

The plight of Community reminds me of what happened to another critically acclaimed but low-rated NBC sitcom. The classic NBC sitcom NewsRadio was a critical success but never found a steady audience because it moved timeslots 11 times over only five seasons. Despite falling short of the old magic threshold of 100 episodes, it did find legs as a syndicated show but seems to have largely disappeared off the face of the earth. Fortunately, there is a little thing called the internet.

So that title is not wrong. We have all 97 episodes of NewsRadio after the jump. Continue reading

Saving NBC’s Community: Phase One – Occupy

At the risk of sounding like I’m completely biased in this fight (which I am), those bastards at NBC are screwing us again. They’ve pulled Community from the mid-season schedule. While they say that the show hasn’t been cancelled, we can’t take this as an indication that the show won’t be cancelled. Industry insiders seem reasonably calm that the show will survive for another season because a fourth season will make it eligible to be syndicated which both NBC and Sony (Community’s studio) would benefit from.

I think it’s time we launch a pre-emptive strike to save one of the best shows on television. After all, similar fan campaigns have saved shows like Friday Night Lights. However, this needs a multi-pronged attack in order to ensure that our voices are heard. Phase One of our campaign to save Community is called Occupy. Continue reading

The Parents Television Council Is Full Of Shit: The Playboy Club Edition

Last week, NBC cancelled The Playboy Club after only three episodes due to low ratings. The Parents Television Council celebrated the move as it resulted in the end of a show that they considered to be inappropriate for network television. Despite the fact that the show aired beyond the watershed at 10:00 PM and its content was reportedly mild compared to what you’d find on premium cable shows at the same time of day, the PTC claimed victory for their moral elite.

But what the PTC right to launch a campaign against The Playboy Club before even watching an episode? I watched all three episodes, read all the PTC’s press releases and looked up the history of the real Playboy Clubs to find out. Continue reading

Night Court: The Complete Listing Of Every Episode On The Internet

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but I’m a huge fan of the classic NBC sitcom Night Court. I grew up watching the show and always watched it when it would occasionally pop up in reruns and syndication on TV. But thanks to the internet, you don’t have to wait for something to pop up on TV to watch it.

So through some painstaking research, I’ve managed to dig up every Night Court episode on the internet and compile them all here. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Story Begins…

In the Man-Lab Showdown yesterday, we totally left out another star of the film, Rose Byrne. The Aussie actress is having one heck of a summer with the surprise hit Bridesmaids and now appearing as Moira MacTaggert in X-Men: The First Class. Given this weekend marks the release of the mutant franchise prequel, it would be appropriate to kick off the weekend entries with the ladies from the film. Speaking of which, X-Men: The First Class is a refreshing, engaging entry to the X-Men films, so check it out in theatres when you get the chance.

After the jump, some Transformers related news, NBC isn’t exactly making improvements to their TV lineup, you can buy Duff beer, Leonard Nimoy is having a lazy day, Old Spice Guy is Luke Cage and nice guys finish last. Continue reading

Chuck Season Three Finale Primer

Seventeen episodes down and only two to go. Tonight marks the end of the third season of Chuck. Unlike last season, the show has already been renewed for a fourth season. But just because the show is safe from cancellation doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be watching it. Unlike last night’s Lost finale, catching you up for tonight’s finale of Chuck should be fairly straight-forward. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Off the Charts!

Finding someone to lead off the ELO this week was a bit of a struggle, so here is something from Amber Heard’s latest photoshoot with Jezebel. Oh she was also featured in the Maxim’s Hot 100 list and came in at number 13 this year. Not bad at all!

After the jump some Transformers 3 news, the fate of Heroes is in limbo, never trust robots that are panhandling on the streets and Alison Brie dishes on her dirty art school experiences. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Back To Normal

G’day everyone! After a two month hiatus, I am back! I hope Steve didn’t scare anyone off while I was gone. Wait!!! Come back!!! Nooo!!! Dammit. Oh well, let’s kick off this Entertainment Link-Off with Kristin Kreuk. The former Smallville leading lady is now appearing on Chuck as a fellow Nerd Herder Hannah. Since she was recently cast in another Josh Schwartz pilot Hitched, don’t expect her to stick around Chuck for much longer. Let’s just enjoy her presence on the show while we can.

After the jump, a few tidbits on the Oscars, a look at some upcoming TV pilots and a behind the scenes look at ChatRoulette, the latest fad in social networking. Continue reading
