Sunday Link-Off: Unpredictable

Leading off today’s edition of the SLO is Alessandra Ambrosio.

Heading into today’s World Cup final, it looks like the players won’t be the gamebreaking factors. Adidas’ “Jabulani” football has been proven by NASA as being unpredictable. (FanHouse)

I’m not a fan of all these crazy stats invented by eggheads that try to tell us who the best players are in every sport. Fortunately, David Berri is far more eloquent in dissecting what’s wrong with these ridiculous stats. (MGoBlog)

Need a new vacation spot? Have you thought of going to lovely Lake Jonathan Toews? (Puck Daddy)

After the jump, scads of baseball links, more on King James, and Kristen Stewart is a gifted actress. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Hunt Continues

The highly anticipated action/horror film Predators is finally out this weekend! Since the film only has one female star, let’s put some additional attention on her. Kicking off this week’s ELO is Alice Braga!

After the jump, more Predators related links, some awesome Tron Legacy tribute videos, Christopher Nolan wants to reboot Bond, a love song for cancelled TV shows and a special version of Twilight just for guys. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Get Off My Mound

For no real reason, kicking things off is Jessica Alba.

Competitive eating legend Takeru Kobayashi is fought the law and the law won at this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Fortunately for all of us that couldn’t make it Coney Island, there’s video. (Deadspin)

The world is giddy with anticipation as we await LeBron’s big announcement. Fortunately for Cleveland, Betty White is on their side. (PopWatch)

New York made a much more “Wall Street” pitch to LeBron. They used a PowerPoint presentation about how LeBron can get rich in The Big Apple. Now, about that winning thing… (Black Sports Online)

After the jump, this post’s eponymous link, Iran’s greatest contribution to society, and vote Joey Votto. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Playing Ball

It’s Independence Day down in the States. I won’t be doing an eye candy post today but here’s Erin Andrews as consolation.

What happens when the local sports media can’t get a hold of their World Cup goat? They go after his mother. (Kotaku)

The question among sports fans for the last week has been where will Kovalchuk sign. No, I’m just kidding. It’s where will LeBron sign. Maybe his Facebook feed will provide some insight. (Slate)

Last week, I ran a NYT profile of Olivia Munn which was written for no apparent reason. This week’s profile is sort of timely because the Wimbledon finals are today. It’s a look at (zombie) tennis star John Isner. (New York Times)

After the jump, baseball links, send Bieber to meet Kim Jong-Il and Vuvuzela Hero. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: On Earth, Everyone Can Hear You Scream

This would probably be a good weekend to avoid the theatres as they are packed with fangirls (and maybe some fanboys). While they’re in the theatres screaming at high pitches everytime a sparkling vampire or shirtless werewolf appears on the screen, the rest of us can just sit back and catch some World Cup action! Now the Twilight saga isn’t known for its ‘quality’ story, but thank goodness the movie does have some eye candy. Kicking off this entry is Ashley Greene.

After the jump, Scream 4 may have hit a fork in the road, some anticipation build-up for Predators, an awesome District 9 parody, some more vampire related stuff and Scott Pilgrim in German! Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: You Oughta Know

Making her SLO debut, here’s Salma Hayek. She’s in some movie opening this weekend that stars radio’s Dan Patrick in a cameo role.

So the Tiger Woods divorce is in the books (more or less). But if you thought other celebrity divorces were ridiculous, this one blows them all out of the water. (The Big Lead)

To help you avoid Tiger’s problem, might I suggest that you read some of the 1000 things that men don’t know about women. (Esquire)

The mystery of the history of obscene gestures in sports photos has been solved. You’ve got to go back over 100 years to find the first photographed bird. (Out of Bounds)

After the jump, ticket rip-offs, a Saudi car failure, and more vuvuzela fun. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Feeling Blue

So I was off last week thanks to my wonderful busy schedule but I’m back! Let’s kick off the last weekend of June with The Saturdays! They got a brand new music video and you can take a look at that later on in this post.

After the jump, two movie trailers to look at, a few tidbits on the next Harold and Kumar film, some Inception stuff to blow your mind, new TV show alert, Disney + porn = social problems, nifty TV opening credits and the iPhone 4 has some nifty features. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off

Sportsnet is running day-old episodes of The Daily Line before the evening edition of Connected. The show sucks but at least it has Jenn Sterger.

My newest favourite on Twitter, Pulitzer Prize winner Buzz Bissinger, explains why he’s on Twitter and why he’s so angry. (The New Republic)

James Blake made an early exit from Wimbledon yesterday but he had some help. The ESPN sideline reporter tried her best to distract him. (Fanhouse)

Another thing Republicans will try to use against Obama: He hates the wave. (Power Line)

After the jump, some World Cup links, scads of baseball links, and a new Top Gear trailer. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Double Duty

I’m sure you figured it out but on double duty this weekend. Kicking off today’s linkdump is Strictly Come Sequins champ Nicole Scherzinger. She has more talent doing this than singing or dancing.

So the Lakers won the NBA championship. As Tim Donaghy explains, the league probably had a hand in the outcome. (Deadspin)

Back-to-back draws hasn’t soured the people of England. They’re still going all out to support their Three Lions. (The Spoiler)

A while back, I posted a link to promotion posters for each of the 32 World Cup teams. Well, what if instead of posters to promote team, they used edgy slogans. (Seth Curry Saves Duke)

After the link, Green makes the save, I Can Has an online empire, and people who you hate to watch sports with. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Crazy Like A Fox

Uh oh. Jackie’s out and I’m in for this edition of the ELO. How about I make up for the change of pace with Megan Fox who’s in some movie opening this weekend.

In a move that will surprise no one, Hustler is going to attempt to profit from Sandra Bullock’s recent marital issues by producing a spoof porno. (Moviefone)

Did you know that Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is filming right now? Did you even know they were making a 4th movie? Anyway, Jerry Bruckheimer is giving everyone the inside scoop via Twitter. (Collider) Better question: Why did they make the second & third films?

Good news nerds! Someone made a working lightsaber. It won’t slice off limbs but it can cause cancer. (National Post)

After the jump, NBA Finals fun, awesome car chases, and a Newark State of Mind. Continue reading
