Video Game Review: Fight Night Round 4

fight-night-round-4-ps3-coverFight Night Round 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Some of the hype has to do with the fact that the graphics looks great. Some of it has to do with the fact that FNR3 was a great game in its own right. But I think that cover really put it over the top. The hype machine was running on all cylinders with the release of this game. Does this game live up to the hype and become a legend like some of the fighters in the game? Find out after the jump. Movie Review: The Time Traveler’s Wife

the time traveler's wife 1

As I have mentioned in the Entertainment Link-Off, the movie review is finally here.

Adapted from the 2003 best-seller by Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler’s Wife is a decent romantic film that follows a star-crossed couple as they come to grips with having one of them constantly falling through a hole in the time-space continuum. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Past, Present, Future

rachel mcadamsAfter a slight delay (again), this week’s edition of the Entertainment Link-Off is finally here! This weekend marks the release of the highly anticipated film adaptation of the novel The Time Traveler’s Wife, hence I’m using Rachel McAdams to kick off this entry. The film was scheduled to be released last fall, but thanks to Star Trek (which is a fantastic film by the way) requiring Eric Bana to shave his head for the role Nero, the reshoots for The Time Traveler’s Wife couldn’t take place until he grew his hair back. So how was the movie? Did it remain faithful to the novel? Find out later when I post the movie review. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the happenings in film, TV and whatnot.

After the jump some Time Traveler’s Wife stuff, notes about upcoming films, Megan Fox talks about peer pressure and we find out what G.I. Joes do during their free time. Continue reading

Video Game Review: NCAA Football 10

ncaa-football-10-ps3-coverNCAA Football 10 is the 13th iteration of the critically acclaimed college football video game. This year’s edition is the third on the PS3 which I’m reviewing it on. The challenge with sports games like this is that, since it comes out every year, a lot of work has to go into it to keep it fresh. It’s easy to just sit back and only update the rosters and playbooks every season. Instead, EA Sports has gone big with this edition with two big new features and a major overhaul of another game mode. So do the changes make NCAA 10 the first must play college football game on PS3 or is it just another step in the right direction? Find out after the jump. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Locked and Loaded

rachel nicholsIt’s time for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off! This weekend marks the release of the highly anticipated G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. It’s one of the last summer action-fests, so head out to the theatres to check it out… I know I’ll be there! If you’re not interested in the storyline or anything, just remember this movie features a nifty fight scene between Rachel Nichols (pictured) and Sienna Miller! Mrow!

After the jump more 500 Days of Summer stuff, some movie casting news and almost everybody hates NBC. Continue reading

Movie Review: 500 Days of Summer

500 days of summer 4This movie is not your typical romantic comedy. 500 Days of Summer is a fresh and funny film as it offers insight in how fate, attraction, heartbreak and hope are associated with a crazy little thing called love. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Lost in Space

sienna millerAugust is finally here! While most of the summer blockbusters have already made it to a theatre near you, there are still a few more flicks that are prepping for release this month including G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The film does have quite the recognizable cast and features some nifty over-the-top action, so I’m really pumped about it. Plus, it also features a very bad-ass Sienna Miller as Baroness.

She was also on Top Gear last week during the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment. Don’t forget to check out the series 13 finale of Top Gear tomorrow night!

After the jump, new sci-fi show alert, Top Gear has Twitter (and so do we!), a look at Flynn’s Arcade and what Kevin Smith thinks of Twilight and its fans… Continue reading

EA Sports Announces 2010 Music Lineup

Many gamers, including myself, look to the newest video games for the latest in great music and no one puts more effort into their game soundtracks than EA. I’m always looking at EA Sports’ latest games for music to use on The Lowdown radio show. However, this year marks a change in philosophy for EA’s music crew. This year, they’re mixing some great new music with some older classics. They’re also mixing songs from bigger acts with songs from some less known acts on all of their soundtracks. So, want to know what you expect to hear when you get in the game? Find the soundtracks to Madden 10, NHL 10, NBA Live 10, and FIFA 10 after the jump. Continue reading

Comic-Con 2009: Sunday Roundup

Sundays are usually a lot quieter than the previous days at Comic-Con. With most of the stuff out of the way, it’s time to focus on two CW shows Smallville and Supernatural. Wait… they both came from the WB back then… CW doesn’t deserve the credit. One show is long past its due date while the other is approaching its end (if the creator gets his way). Check out what happened at the panels after the jump. Continue reading

Comic-Con 2009: Saturday Roundup

Saturday was a busy day with many interesting panels going on throughout the day. There was some awesomeness from Chuck, fun stuff from the Glee panel, lots of destruction for Zombieland and 2012, Kevin Smith pays a visit to please all the nerds out there and of course… new material from Iron Man 2! Continue reading
