The Lowdown Radio: October 13, 2009

The third episode of the third season was the fortieth new episode in the show’s almost two-yearĀ history. On tonight’s episode, Steve and Jackie debate what happened at Queen’s Fauxcoming weekend and the administration and police reaction to the planned party. They also talk about Homecoming and partying at Western. In the news, the guys discuss some dumb new laws/rules just enacted in America. Entertainment features a new single, Britney Spears making her Lowdown review on the Worst of Music and a review of Zombieland. Sports starts with Jackie breaking down the new look Toronto Raptors. The boys close off the show with the return of Role Play where they try to be Mats Sundin, Jim Balsillie, Jeff Garcia, and Barack Obama.

On Lowdown Extra, the guys talk a little more about Homecoming and Fauxcoming. There are a couple more news stories dealing with law failures. Basketball is the theme (literally and figuratively) of this week’s It Came From YouTube segment. Jackie spends more timeĀ breaking downĀ the 2009-10 TorontoĀ Raptors. And there are a couple of more famous faces that turn up for Role Play. In all, there is an extra 15 minutes of Lowdown action onĀ the Extra.Ā As always, all the action comes to you uncut and uncensored.

Entertainment Link-Off: Long Weekend Retreat

kristen bellI had a lot on my plate the past few days; hence this post was delayed. Anyway, the new Entertainment Link-Off is here! It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This weekend also marks the release of the ensemble comedy Couples Retreat. Apparently it’s horrible, but Kristen Bell is in it! That should be worth snatching an admission ticket.

Lowdown Radio Preview: October 13, 2009

The third episode of The Lowdown’s 2009-2010 season is on air on Tuesday night. We’re putting up the preview early so that we don’t spring this on you while you’re half asleep from Monday’s turkey dinner. It’s even a sort of special show because it’s our 40th episode. The show starts with Steve and Jackie talking about Queen’s Fauxcoming and Western’s standing as a party school. In the news, the guys discuss dumb American rules/laws.Ā In entertainment, Britney Spears makes her Lowdown debut on the worst in music and the guys review Zombieland. When the gears shift to sports, Jackie previews the rebuilt Toronto Raptors before joining Steve to answer questions as athletesĀ in some sports Role Play. And we have the return of Barack to show for that.

Entertainment Link-Off: Killer Weekend

Summer is coming to an end. Sad but true. Aside from the cooler weather, you can tell that that summer is ending by the fact that movie studios are dumping craptacular flicks for our viewing pleasure. We have two films that are not screened for critics this weekend. First is Halloween II, which is Rob Zombie’s follow-up to his somewhat successful Halloween remake. There’s also the fourth installment of the Final Destination franchise titled “The Final Destination” starring Bobby Campo and Shantel VanSanten (pictured). Whether this will actually be the final destination remains to be seen. I have a sneaking suspicion that it depends on how much money it makes. Oh did I mention it’s in 3D? Great… as if we needed more films that use 3D as a silly gimmick.

Entertainment Link-Off: Locked and Loaded

It’s one of the last summer action-fests, so head out to the theatres to check it out… I know I’ll be there! If you’re not interested in the storyline or anything, just remember this movie features a nifty fight scene between Rachel Nichols (pictured) and Sienna Miller! Mrow!
