Wednesday Link-Off: The Long Reads

Let’s not waste any time kicking off the post. Here’s Kate Upton. The photograph was taken by Terry Richardson who is still one of the creepiest looking guys I’ve ever seen.

Last November, NBC’s Bob Costa interviewed Jerry Sandusky after he was charged with child molestation. Now, the prosecution is considering entering the full interview transcript into evidence. That full interview went 36 minutes instead of just the 8 that aired. (The Centre Daily Times)

An unnamed athlete’s PR guy talks about his job of lying to everyone to protect his client’s name. (Deadspin) One of the commenter’s put it right when he said that the PR guy happily taking the money to lie sounds like the man lying to himself.

I’m legitimately excited that Microsoft has a near ultrabook level tablet coming out this fall with the Surface for Windows 8 Pro (which will likely get shortened to “Surface Pro”). Here’s a hands-on look at the upcoming Surface. (Engadget)

Sunday Link-Off: Race Day

It’s the greatest day in motorsport today. That’s why today’s linkdump is up early. In a half-hour, it’s the Monaco Grand Prix. That’s followed by the Indianapolis 500 in the afternoon and the Coca-Cola 600 this evening. So before the first green flag of the day wave, here’s American model Alyssa Miller. She seemed an appropriate choice for today. By the way, she’s not on Maxim’s Hot 100 list but Amanda Knox, Lois Griffin and anyone who did a Maxim shoot over the last 24 months or will do one appearing in the next three to six months is on there. What a waste of everybody’s time to acknowledge its existence.

Given the trouble that NCAA athletes seem to get themselves into, programs are using new ways to monitor their charges. They’re now contracting out to a social media monitoring service in order to keep their athletes out of trouble. (Deadspin)

Facebook opened just over a week ago at $38 per share. Now, it’s under $32 per share. How could the opening valuation be so wrong that Facebook has lost 16% of its value in a week? Maybe it’s because the current system is broken. (New Yorker)

Wednesday Link-Off: Easy Writer

I wasn’t sure who to kick off this linkdump with but Fox kept telling me last night was the season finale of Glee. Given that the ads made it seem like most of the cast was “graduating” and that the show is terribly written, I doubt it’s long for this world. Anyway, since she’s likely soon to fade out of the public eye without steady network employment, here’s Lea Michele.

Tim Tebow needs new handlers and a new outlook on life. His handlers have requested the deletion of all pictures of him with female cast members of Rock of Ages. Tebow like women and musicals! How can he be the second coming if that’s the case? (Awful Announcing)

For some reason, Rick Reilly is still writing columns for ESPN. I don’t know how he’s still employed after turning in crap like this. (Deadspin)

Though there might be a scientific reason why Reilly’s columns seem so awful. I mean, beyond the writer. He’s writing his columns at a 5th grade level. (Deadspin)
