Sunday Link-Off: A Profile

Since we’ve got a lot of people searching the blog for her, let’s start with Jennifer Lawrence.

I think I’ve mentioned this before but this year is the five-year anniversary of the creation of Twitter. So here’s the behind the scenes story of how Twitter was founded. (Business Insider)

And on that Twitter note, Simon Pegg tells the story of how he ended up on Twitter. (New Statesman)

The NBA playoffs started this weekend. Instead of your typical video game based simulation, though, SB Nation is using crappy 1990s video games to pick each series winner. (SB Nation)

After the jump, the history of SNL celebrity jeopardy, the story of Chris Kanyon, and Norm MacDonald’s return to TV. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Sunday Came Afterwards

It’s Sunday which means it’s time for another set of Sunday Links. For no apparent reason, let’s kick off with Kate Upton. A lot of bloggers make future ex-wife jokes about certain celebs, I think I should start saying that about Kate.

How popular is Aussie bully punisher Casey “Kid Zangief” Heynes on the internet? Famed hacking group Anonymous shut down Casey’s school’s website in protest of his suspension. (Urlesque)

How desperate is the Detroit News for cash? They’ll let advertisers have a say in the editing process. Chrysler complained about a review so the web version was edited. (Jalopnik)

The latest viral sensation on the internet is the ear-bleedingly bad Friday by Rebecca Black which I’ll talk more about on Monday. But for now, here are the top five Friday covers. (Mashable)

After the jump, David Stern is a hypocrite, Mike Tyson is a family man and Super Mario Brothers is an indie movie trailer. Continue reading

Thirteen Things I Learned About Facebook In Thirteen Days

If you follow my Twitter feed or read enough of my musings here on the blog, you would know that I recently bit the bullet and opened up my own Facebook profile. Even though everyone has been talking about it for the better part of the last six years, I really had no idea what Facebook was or did. So I thought it would be fun to let you folks in on the 13 lessons I’ve learned in my first 13 days on Facebook. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Twitterific

After yesterday’s Uteck Bowl, leading the links with Jessica Lowndes should make Mustangs fans feel better.

We love a good Buzz Bissinger column around here. So here’s another piece about our favourite Pulitzer Prize winner to follow on Twitter. (LA Times)

Since we’re on the topic of Twitter, here’s a look at some social media rules when it comes to relationships. (The Daily Beast)

The Humanoids: Ain’t Nothing To Talk About

Sometimes there ain’t nothing to talk about. For example, the rent is too damn high. Unless you’re in the upper class, there’s no debate and nothing to talk about. But there’s a few more topics that are in the news this week that really shouldn’t be up for much debate or are being focused on for the wrong reasons. For example, Randy Moss was cut for being a food critic but textual intercourse with a team employee is perfectly acceptable. Not liking food? That ain’t to talk about. Continue reading

The Humanoids: Instant Insanity

We live in a world where when something happens, everybody knows about it almost instantly. The age of the internet, we’ve become a society that is constantly connected with every other place on earth and we demand information as it happens. And this is driving me insane. You just can’t get away from the barrage of news and reviews from around the world. The problem is, though, that the thought of turning TweetDeck off scares me because I might miss something that happens as the story develops. This internal contradiction of not caring about knowing but still needing to know is driving me insane. And today’s Humanoids column is all about those things that drive people insane. Continue reading

2010 Edmonton Indy Wrapup

One weekend every year, the City Centre Airport in Edmonton is host to the elite of North American open-wheel racing (and Milka Duno). Since 2005, the Edmonton Indy had played host to the stars of Champ Car and the Izod IndyCar Series. After an exciting race last week on the streets of downtown Toronto, 25 IndyCars trekked across Canada for the second of two Canadian stops for the Izod IndyCar Series. Continue reading

2010 Toronto Indy Wrapup

The streets of Toronto’s Exhibition Place have been the home to open-wheel racing in Canada since 1986. For the second time, the Izod IndyCar Series came to town to run the downtown streets. Twenty-six cars including Canadians Paul Tracy and Alex Tagliani made up the field for a race that turned into a demolition derby. Continue reading

The Best of Tweets From Last Night

It’s time for another instalment in our series of great websites from around the web. We’ve done Texts From Last Night a couple of times before but now it’s time to examine its unlicensed internet equivalent. Tweets From Last Night is a collection of the greatest tweets that involve the greatness that is drunken debauchery. So here’s a look at some of the best tweets from last night. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Shop Til You Drop

It’s a slow week here since everyone is off on holidays. Today is Boxing Day, which means everyone is lined up at the malls looking for a deal. In fact, I’m heading out to grab something, so I’ll keep this one brief. For those that do not plan on heading out to the crowded shopping malls, here’s something for you to read! Kicking this off is Olivia Wilde. I swear these photoshoots are reminding me to go check out shows that I generally miss over the year. Alright, I’m off to grab some House DVDs! Yes I choose to watch Chuck live, so House tends to be on the back burner.

After the jump, brief tidbits on movies, the Home Alone Twitter Project and Glee Flashmob! Continue reading
