2012 Edmonton Indy Wrapup

Sunday marked the second of two trips that the IndyCar Series takes to Canada. After the Toronto Indy, the stars of IndyCar had their second of back-to-back Canadian races in Edmonton on the temporary circuit at the Edmonton City Centre Airport. 2012 Toronto Indy Wrapup

The top level of open-wheel racing in North America went to Toronto for the 26th time this weekend. This weekend was a complete change from the previous IndyCar races around Exhibition Place in Toronto. The car was new, the engines were new and the crew in race control were new. Twenty-five cars raced around the streets of Toronto for the first of two Canadian stops on the IndyCar calendar led by Canadian drivers James Hinchcliffe and Alex Tagliani. Continue reading

2011 NASCAR at Montreal Wrapup

For the fifth time, the stars of the NASCAR Nationwide Series went north of the border for a race in Montreal at the famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Nationwide Series features a hodgepodge of top NASCAR stars and up-and-comers. This race also featured some of Canada’s best racing talent with Jacques Villeneuve, Alex Tagliani, Patrick Carpentier, Andrew Ranger and Ron Fellows.

One weekend every year, the City Centre Airport in Edmonton is shut down to host the elite of North American open-wheel racing. . Since 2005, the Edmonton Indy had played host to the stars of Champ Car and the Izod IndyCar Series. After a controversial race two weeks ago on the streets of downtown Toronto, 26 IndyCars trekked across Canada for the second of two Canadian stops for the Izod IndyCar Series. For the 25th time, IndyCar tore up the streets of downtown Toronto for Canada’s fastest street party.
