Man Lab Link-Off: Mind Blowing

It’s time for more links from your friends at the Man Lab. Sometimes I’m not sure whether this post is supposed to link to eye candy or advice for guys. Either way, we’ll start with the clinically underrated Anne V.

It’s time for AskMen’s annual list of the 49 most influential men in the world. Who should be your male celebrity role medal for the next year? (AskMen)

After the jump, sex can literally blow your mind, video gaming with your girl and celebrities on Halloween. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: The 1%

It’s the middle of the week which means it’s time for links. Let’s kick-off with Canada’s own Nina Dobrev. She’s definitely a 1%’er and I’m not talking about her wealth.

Ever wonder what happens in a Las Vegas sports book on gameday? Here’s a behind the scenes look at one of the more popular parts of the gambling scene. (Las Vegas Sun)

I’m fairly annoyed with the pro-1% items coming across my Facebook newsfeed. But that’s what happens when you take a university program filled with 1%ers. Anyway, instead of occupying areas near financial market, David Carr thinks we should be occupying news rooms. (New York Times)

The Church of Scientology isn’t exactly one to drop an old grudge. After the famous Scientology episode, the Church launched an investigation into Trey Parker and Matt Stone. (Huffington Post)

After the jump, the future of F1 in Canada, Occupy Wall Street and 10 years of Pardon The Interruption. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Biography

Despite the fact that we’re only 8 days away from Halloween, we actually have fewer Halloween links than on Wednesday. That means I can’t use my prepared joke about starting this edition of the SLO with the very unscary Stacy Keibler.

Every Steve Jobs biography that was being written has been expedited. That includes the authorized biography by Walter Isaacson. Naturally, some of the more interesting parts of the book have been leaked. (Gizmodo)

We’re only a month away from the release of the already infamous book about LeBron James’ move to Miami. Here’s the first excerpt which is about Miami Heat fans… Or lack there of. (Esquire)

We have one rule of thumb around here that we almost never break: Whenever we find a good profile of Bill Murray (AKA Cuz), we are obligated to link to it. (The Guardian)

After the jump, an LFL walkout, what we really think of your Facebook status updates and 10 years of PTI. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Laugh at the Face of Danger

Time for the Entertainment Link-Off once again. This weekend at the movies, you can catch the horror flick Paranormal Activity 3. Alternatively, there’s also The Three Musketeers 3D. Better yet, for comedy fans, Rowan Atkinson is back as Johnny English in Johnny English Reborn. I had a chance to see this flick a month back and I have to say, despite the rather predictable plot, the film was good for its physical comedy. Oh it also helps that Rosamund Pike is in the movie too!

After the jump, Hungary has a bizarre way of financing films, David Fincher doesn’t want the world to see Scarlett Johansson naked, iPhone can make good quality videos, some sequel news, catch the new music video from pop group Girls’ Generation and a nice little video on getting friend-zoned! Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Zombie Attack

Between The Walking Dead season premiere and Halloween coming up, this week’s linkdump has all sorts of zombie stuff in it. Let’s kick this off with the very unzombie-like Kristen Stewart. But maybe that’s because she’s more into sparkly vampires instead of zombies. Of course, if the Twilight vampires and warewolves weren’t such wussy bitches, Kristen’s character would be a vampire or warewolf by now.

First, let’s give you the complete guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse. (New York Magazine)

Fortunately for the sane members of the public, the obsession with zombies has overshadowed the teenage obsession with sparkling vampires. But why exactly are people obsessed with zombies? (Grantland)

And the zombie apocalypse has hit home the most in Georgia where Atlanta has embraced its new role as the zombie capital of America. (New York Times)

After the jump, RIM tries to bounce back, Community wrinkles some brains and zombie Christopher Walken wants more cowbell. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Cancelled

Since I made such a big deal about the misguided “morality” behind the recent cancellation of The Playboy Club, here’s TPC star Amber Heard. I don’t think she’ll be unemployed for too long.

Well, shit has hit the fan in Boston. The Boston Globe has written an expose about the ills of the 2011 Boston Red Sox and why it cost them a playoff spot. (Deadspin)

The NBA could cancel the whole season if David Stern thinks progress hasn’t been made in negotiations this weekend. That would a lot fast a cancellation than the NHL’s cancellation which is on this list of the 10 most significant sports strikes/lockouts. (Midwest Sports Fans)

Not even Google’s employees like Google Plus. One publicly posted on his G+ account about how G+ was an afterthought by the executives. (Gizmodo)

After the jump, how to fix The Simpsons, Portal 2 had a unique original concept and Shanaban’s about to start handing out suspensions. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Thing Becomes You!

It’s a good weekend if you’re feeling a little retro. For those into something a bit lighter, there’s the Footloose remake starring Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough. Meanwhile on the other end of the spectrum is the paranoia filled sci-fi horror flick prequel The Thing starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead! It’s also quite appropriate to start off with something from her latest photoshoot with Esquire.

After the jump, the red band trailer for American Reunion, NBC’s Community is one of the smarter comedies you’re not watching, Drive is making people do bizarre things, The Thing: The Musical and a Voltron related short film hits the net! Continue reading

Man Lab Link-Off: Giving Thanks

Since we’ve been on a bit of a Man Lab kick around Canadian Thanksgiving, we figured that you deserve some links. Did you know that it’s been four weeks since our last set of links from the Man Lab? To make up for that, let’s kick off this post with Kate Upton. The world’s been a better place since she popped up on the radar this year.

Let’s kick off this week’s MLLO with a look at 101 women who you might not have heard of before. Even if you have heard of some of them, it doesn’t hurt to see them again. (Guyism)

After the jump, picking up women on Facebook, tips for university students and a new classic Brooklyn Decker video. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Record Breaking

So Esquire just named Rihanna the sexiest woman alive. Once again, a major publication gets it horribly wrong. Does anyone even have her in their top ten? I don’t think she’d even make my top fifty. Among the women I’d rank ahead of Rihanna is Genevieve Morton who made the cover of Sports Illustrated South Africa’s Swimwear Issue.

Some NHL GMs aren’t too happy with Brendan Shanahan. They gave him a mandate to issue stiffer suspensions but they didn’t actually think he would hand out stiffer suspensions. (CBC Sports)

In other Canada-centric sports stories, Anthony Calvillo became the all-time pro football passing yards record holder. That would’ve been a feat worthy of massive coverage if he wasn’t in the CFL. (Grantland)

We’ve all heard of Danica Patrick who is the most prominent of the women driving race cars but have you heard of Leena Gade? She’s the lead race engineer of the #2 Audi R18 LMP1 and led the team to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in an epic battle with Peugeot. (Jalopnik)

After the jump, what your font says about you, how to survive the zombie apocalypse and Clarkson does his thing. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Seeing Red

It’s the Sunday before Canadian Thanksgiving. I’d like to run some Canadian eye candy to lead off here but I couldn’t find anything recent. So I’ll go Brazilian instead with Cintia Dicker.

Since his death on Wednesday night, the tributes and memorials for Steve Jobs have poured in. However, perspective seems to have been completely lost. Steve Jobs might have created a powerhouse company but he’s not God. (Gawker)

The Occupy Wall Street protests are still ongoing but do you actually know what’s happening and what it’s about? (Esquire)

Fighting in hockey has been a hot issue for the last five months. However, not everyone is ready to banish fighters and fighting from the game. Even self-described pacifists think fisticuffs still have a place in the game. (Backhand Shelf)

After the jump, the latest on The Simpsons, weird original video game concepts and Party Rock is in Pyongyang tonight. Continue reading
