Sunday Link-Off: Deadline Day Prelude

I’ve never heard of Brazilian model Raica Oliveira before but I’m willing to bet we’ll hear from her again soon.

One of the biggest names in hockey trade rumours is Eklund of HockeyBuzz. He’s a pretty controversial figure among both the traditional and new media members but this piece by Adrian Dater is a refreshingly fair look at the anonymous hockey blogger. (Sports Illustrated)

Entertainment Link-Off: The Envelope Please

Since she’s one half of the Academy Awards hosting team, here’s Anne Hathaway.

The Oscars are this weekend. Obviously, Ricky Gervais won’t be allowed there. That hasn’t stopped him from writing a slip for the opening monologue for the show. (RickyGervais.com)

In fact, not only will Gervais not be at the Oscars, he won’t even be watching the show. (Hollywood Reporter)

And speaking of people not allowed at the Oscars, I’m going to guess Charlie Sheen won’t be allowed there. Hell, he’s not even allowed on CBS after the network shut down Two and a Half Men for the season. (HitFix)

NHL Power Rankings: Week 21

It’s the last set of Power Rankings before the trade deadline. The problem is that the activity from the last couple of weeks would make you think that the trade deadline is earlier than February 28th. Short of Brad Richards getting traded, I’m not sure if there’s any major moves left to be made. For the second straight test, the teams were overshadowed by off-track F1 news. This week’s testing played second fiddle to debate over the postponement of the Bahrain Grand Prix because of protests in the country. I’m sure most guys will agree that it’s never a bad time to talk about the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. We’re about a year away from the next edition of the Swimsuit Issue, the 48th edition according to our friends at Swimsuitologist, but that doesn’t mean guys aren’t already talking about it. We may not actually know who will be in the next Swimsuit Issue but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate about who will be on the cover. Worst of Music: Glee – Gold Digger

It might seem hypocritical of me to say this because I’ve noted many times that I hate hip hop music, but I love rap. I’m not a huge Kanye fan but I like his breakout hit song Gold Digger. Like most songs, cover versions don’t come close to matching the quality of the original. However, one particular cover reaches levels of suckage so high that it deserves special mention here.
