With Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issue having just been released, I thought that now was a good time for a themed edition of the Man Lab Showdown. As I’ve mentioned before on the blog, I didn’t peg Hannah Davis near the top of the list of favourites for the cover so my original plans for this Showdown didn’t come to fruition. That being said, I’m borrowing the idea from that for this edition and I’ll use another version of that idea for the next edition.
So for today’s Man Lab Showdown, it’s a battle of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girls. In one corner is the current SI Swimsuit Issue cover star and American sweetheart, Hannah Davis. In the other corner, the 2014 Swimsuit Issue cover model and Danish superstar, Nina Agdal.

I bet nobody was expecting to wake up to a set of links about some unlikely to win the White House Republican nomination hopefuls, some exposes on sports media and the implosion of Brian Williams career. Sometimes, you get a really bad week for links. Sometimes, you get this week.
And it’s a good thing that I didn’t do an SI Swimsuit cover odds post this year because I would have been wrong. Hannah Davis was #5 on my list. Who was #1? Emily Ratajkowski.

Sports Illustrated has reached the 50th anniversary of their immensely popular Swimsuit Issue. While the magazine itself isn’t quite as good as it once was, the Swimsuit Issue hasn’t really diminished as a cultural icon and pop culture force.
Over fifty years of the Swimsuit Issue, it has featured 40 models on the cover. I don’t think that this year’s 50th anniversary issue will add to that tally though. I explain in The Lowdown Blog’s annual examination of who will make the cover of this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

One of the great perks that comes with a Sports Illustrated subscription is getting the mid-winter classic known as the SI Swimsuit Issue. Last summer, models were secretly whisked off to tropical locales all over the world and photographed in complete secrecy… Well, at least when Twitter and Facebook didn’t give us sneak peaks of what to expect. Anyway, shrouded in even more secrecy is the identity of the magazine’s cover model. Being the SI Swimsuit cover model is probably the highest honour that can be bestowed on a model. It comes with instant celebrity, international recognition, a blogosphere presence for life and a blown-up copy of your cover on the Wall of Morale in the Dan Patrick Show man cave.
