Sunday Link-Off: Clear Eyes

Because of all the Friday Night Lights wrap-up links I have in here, I have to kick off with the lovely ladies of FNL that Jackie omitted yesterday. It’s Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Connie Britton.

So I was wrong when I posted a link a few weeks ago about the FNL series finale. The finale aired weeks ago in Canada but FNL just wrapped up in the USA this past Friday. In honour of the end of the best sports show ever, here’s the oral history of Friday Night Lights. (Grantland)

Part of what made FNL great was the soundtrack which helped to make it feel like a Texas football show despite the fact that all the actors were at least in their 20s and mostly from well outside the deep south. Here are the best songs from FNL’s five season run. (GQ)

Deadspin has done it again. They’ve obtained the audited financial statements of the arm of the NFL that brings in all the league-wide revenue. They only made 10 figures of profit last year. (Deadspin)

After the jump, happy 5th Twitter, the self-destruction of RIM and CM Punk is at it again. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Magic Ends Here

It’s time for another weekly edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Given that Friday Night Lights just recently wrapped up its run on NBC, let’s kick off the entry with one of its stars Aimee Teegarden.

After the jump, Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs get a little frisky for GQ, some Harry Potter related links, Justin Timberlake earned himself some cool points, movie trailers galore, first look at Disney’s John Carter and new music videos from AJ Rafael and Kina Grannis. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Friendship Has Its Benefits

Steve said it best on Twitter last night when he tweeted “Every time I see an ad for No Strings Attached, I think it’ll cost Natalie Portman an Oscar the same way Norbit cost Eddie Murphy.” Perhaps it’s not such a good idea to kick off the ELO with her and her infamous laugh from the Golden Globes. Instead, let’s start with one of her co-stars Olivia Thirlby. The movie was initially titled Fuckbuddies. Perhaps that would have generated a bit more interest from the general public.

After the jump, a nice look at the opening credits for Scott Pilgrim, MTV landed themselves in hot water, Battle Los Angeles released some awesome viral marketing and a nifty Lost fan video that should please many fanatics out there.  Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Hit Love Where It Hurts

Steve will be away this weekend so the Sunday Link-Off will be taking a break. Instead, be on a lookout for the review of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World tomorrow night! Speaking of Scott Pilgrim, the comic book-turned-live action feature is out this week. If you’re from Toronto, show some T-dot love and go see this movie. Kicking off this week’s Entertainment Link-Off is Ellen Wong, who has a role as one of Scott’s many love interests, Knives Chau.

After the jump, plenty more Scott Pilgrim related links, a few nifty features of The Other Guys and Friday Night Lights sets a return date. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Long Weekend Retreat

kristen bellI had a lot on my plate the past few days; hence this post was delayed. Anyway, the new Entertainment Link-Off is here! It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This weekend also marks the release of the ensemble comedy Couples Retreat. Apparently it’s horrible, but Kristen Bell is in it! That should be worth snatching an admission ticket.

After the jump some tidbits on Friday Night Lights, cartoons gone wild and what would the movie 2012 be like without CGI? Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Another One Bites the Dust

jamie chung 1This weekend at the box office is the battle of the eye candy (and maybe slasher flicks). First we have Kate Beckinsale starring in the Antarctic murder mystery Whiteout. Next up there’s Sorority Row, the remake of the 1983 horror movie The House on Sorority Row. Expect to see plenty of attractive ladies get chased and hacked by a hooded killer. Jamie Chung is part of the cast for this movie, but since she’s not the “leading girl”, I bet her character won’t make it out of this one.

Before I kick this off I would like to mention that DirecTV has announced the fourth season to Friday Night Lights will premiere on October 28th! Mark your calendars! Of course, if you’re still waiting for NBC to air it, don’t expect to get your weekly FNL fix until summer 2010.

After the jump Vampire Diaries doesn’t suck, TV is good for you and we learn about the evolution of the peace sign. Continue reading
