Entertainment Link-Off: Untitled ELO of the Week

I’m back from my one week hiatus but it won’t be for long as I’ll be away for another two weeks afterwards. Thankfully Steve is around to cover for me. Anyway, it’s the weekend before Valentine’s Day, but I’m short on love related stuff (though Olivia Wilde is now officially single much to fanboys delight). Anyway, kicking off this ELO is Emily Blunt. You won’t physically see her in theatres this weekend but you’ll hear her voice in the new animated film Gnomeo and Juliet.

Top Ten Super Bowl 45 Ads

Let’s face it. The Super Bowl is not actually about football. It’s really just a big budget marketing exercise for companies with more money than sense. A thirty-second ad spot on Fox for Super Bowl 45 cost $3,000,000. With 111 million people watching the game in the US and millions more checking out the ads on YouTube, there’s no bigger day for marketing executives to earn their salaries.

Inexplicable Celebrity Hookups

As Valentine’s Day nears, now is a good time to remember that playing out of your league is an inexplicably common occurrence. Despite how often that happens, when a guy lands an impossibly hot woman, I’d still call that a statistical outlier in the grand scheme of life. However, there are many examples of the supermodel or Maxim Hot 100 topper ended up with an ugly or otherwise ordinary guy. Every year, the thirty man over-the-top-rope battle royal known as the Royal Rumble kicks off the Road to WrestleMania. SI Swimsuit 2011 Cover Odds

One of the great perks that comes with a Sports Illustrated subscription is getting the mid-winter classic known as the SI Swimsuit Issue. Last summer, models were secretly whisked off to tropical locales all over the world and photographed in complete secrecy… Well, at least when Twitter and Facebook didn’t give us sneak peaks of what to expect. Anyway, shrouded in even more secrecy is the identity of the magazine’s cover model. Being the SI Swimsuit cover model is probably the highest honour that can be bestowed on a model. It comes with instant celebrity, international recognition, a blogosphere presence for life and a blown-up copy of your cover in the studio of a certain SI-associated nationally syndicated radio/TV show hosted from Connecticut.
