Wednesday Link-Off: Simply The Best

kim-cloutier-si09-03Kim Cloutier may not have been one of the most searched women on the internet this year but it’s only a matter of time. Did I mention she’s Canadian?

Not News of the Week

If it’s not worth talking about, then it must be time for another dose of the Not News of the Week.

A woman in Wisconsin tried a new way to get out of an arrest for shoplifting. The woman allegedly stole a bag of beef jerky and a lighter from a convenience store and went home. When police arrived at the woman’s house, she stripped down to her underwear in front of her three kids claiming that the officers couldn’t arrest a naked woman. Police seemed to think they could arrest a naked woman but when they tried to cuff her, she kicked one officer in the groin and spit in another’s mouth. When they finally got her into the squad car, she decided to moon everyone out the rear window. Naturally, she was very drunk when this all happened. Something tells me that she won’t win Mother of the Year this year. Continue reading

F1 Brazilian GP: He Is The Champion

It’s been nearly inevitable since the start of the season. When he went on that run of six wins in the first seven races, Jenson Button’s first world title seemed a near certainty. And try as he might to give the championship away, even his mediocrity couldn’t prevent him from picking up the biggest prize in all of motorsports. It wasn’t just a good day for Button but for all of Brawn GP which clinched the Constructors Championship after it nearly didn’t even race this season. Continue reading

The Humanoids: Thanksgiving Hangover

The Humanoids is back from another week off. Not that anyone missed it, I’m sure. Anyway, there’s no real rhyme or reason to this week’s column. Maybe it’s getting back to what I originally envisioned the column as: A weekly look at some compelling persons, places, and things. And I won’t be talking about that balloon kid. After all, he’s dominated CNN since it happened and likely will for the next couple of months. I’d rather talk about anything else. Has anyone else noticed that long weekends are good at the time but mess up the rest of the week? I’ve found myself completely lost this week because I’m working four instead of five days. I thought yesterday was Friday even though I knew it wasn’t because I still had to finish writing this column. Oh, the fun that the tryptophan in the turkey has with you.

By the way, did you catch last week’s episode of The Lowdown radio show? I don’t blame you if you didn’t. It wasn’t one of our best efforts ever. From the news onward, it was pretty good though. The next episode is lining up to be pretty good. We’re taping it tonight. We’ll have a The Beatles: Rock Band review and some Halloween related stuff too. If all goes well, it should be an instant classic. Continue reading

Not News of the Week

For the 15th time ever, it’s all the news that’s not fit for print. It’s time for the Not News of the Week.

How ridiculous have Ontario’s laws about smoking gotten? You can’t even smoke in your own car anymore… Assuming that your car is also your workplace. A truck driver on Highway 401 (Canada’s busiest highway) was fined for violating the Smoke-Free Ontario Act because he was smoking in the work place. Apparently, there is a national law that allows truck drivers to smoke in “designated smoking vehicles.” It also turns out that the ticketing officer may have been so busy trying to apply an unpopular law that he forgot to check who owned the vehicle. If the driver did own the vehicle himself, he was well within his rights to smoke. It looks like this is another case of an officer trying to meet his quota and this fine will go up in smoke. Sunday Link-Off: Fight It Out

olivia-wilde-marieclaire-05Here’s Olivia Wilde. You can understand why Megan Fox would strangle a mountain ox to be with her.

Christiano Ronaldo is now a fan favourite of Man United fans. They got all that money for him and now he’s down with an injury… Caused by a sorcerer… Hired by Paris Hilton… You just can’t make this shit up. (The Spoiler)

Have we mentioned that the CBC has ripped off “Dancing with the Stars”? It’s called “Skating with the Stars” “Battle of the Blades” where retired hockey goons jump and twirl while beating the shit out of each other or something. (Deadspin)

Brock Lesnar isn’t what we thought he was. I think his next opponent will find out that taking a shot from a steel chair would be preferable to what will happen in the octagon. (Yahoo Sports)
