Sunday Link-Off: Holy Mackinaw

I’d like to say there’s a theme to today’s Sunday links but there really isn’t. For example, there’s no real rhyme or reason to kicking off with Miranda Kerr.

Last week, I linked a New Yorker story that looked behind-the-scenes of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. It turns out that it might have been too good to be true. (Registan)

I haven’t gotten to the part of the ESPN Book about the feud between Michelle Beadle and Erin Andrews but it looks like it might be getting out of control. Take the ESPYs after parties, for example. (Awful Announcing)

There’s a Joe Bowen rap? This beats the hell out of those Harvey’s and V-Tech commercials. Are we sure it wasn’t Young Offender but DGB that made this? (Down Goes Brown)

After the jump, how the pros flirt on Twitter, the McGangBang and the greatest card trick ever. Continue reading

Man Lab Showdown: Megan Fox vs. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Technically, we’re a month late for the epic Transformers showdown of Michael Bay’s two pieces of constantly-in-peril eye candy. The original Transformers girl was Megan Fox who shot to fame in the role of the girl who inexplicably hooked up with Shia LaBeouf’s character. Then she got fired because Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg didn’t like the idea of an actress who had a mind of her own. So they hired Transformers 3 girl Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a model who’s acting experience was limited to pretending to be attracted to Jason Statham.

Man Lab Link-Off: Lesson Time

Today’s set of Man Lab approved links has all sorts of lessons that men need to know. The first lesson that we can take from this post is that Pamela Anderson still looks good at 44 (though she probably has some help from some airbrushing specialists).

The crew over at AskMen have wrapped up their Great Male Survey. It’s an important insight into your fellow man. Remember, advance scouting can help you top your competition at the bar. (AskMen)

After the jump, the Code of Men, what women hate and Russia’s greatest grassroots political movement. Continue reading

Man Lab Link-Off: Being a Boy of Summer

Did you know it’s been 50 days since we last did a Man Lab linkdump? We’ve got a lot of links to go through but let’s start with Raica Oliveira.

You’ve probably seen this list floating around the interwebs but here is COED’s list of the 50 most popular women on the internet based on the number of Google search results. (COED Magazine)

After the jump, food women want, booze for everyone and the Man Lab’s first song recommendation. Continue reading

Best of Eyegasms

In our ongoing Best of the Interweb series, we go to the world of Tumblr and one of our favourite Tumblogs to follow. The gang over at Fuck Yeah Eyegasms dig up and post some of the most gorgeous images from around the internet. These are the sort of images that you’d have hanging up in your home or office if you could. Continue reading

Man Lab Showdown: Adriana Lima vs. Candice Swanepoel

Our third Man Lab Showdown is likely to be the best one we ever do. It’s a battle of the generations as we pit two Victoria’s Secret Angels against each other. In one corner is Adriana Lima who has been an Angel for the last 11 years and still looks amazing after giving birth to a daughter in 2009. Even at the age of 30, she’s still one of the top models in the world and one of Victoria’s Secret’s top girls. In the other corner is Candice Swanepoel who is in only her second year as an Angel. At 22, she’s already found herself near the top of the modelling world.

Here at The Lowdown Blog, we love our country. Not only that but we love the women of Canada. I might be a bit biased but I think that Canadian women are the greatest in the world. Since I know the Yanks will be promoting their finest on Independence Day, to celebrate Canada Day here’s another look at 25 of the hottest Canadian women. Happy Canada Day! Continue reading

Man Lab Showdown: January Jones vs. Jennifer Lawrence

For our second Man Lab showdown, we have a battle of the X-Women that star in this weekend’s X-Men: First Class. This First Class battle pits one of TV’s established stars against one of Hollywood’s up and coming stars. In one corner is Hollywood’s latest sweetheart and Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence. In the other is veteran actress and Emmy nominee January Jones.

Esquire’s SEO Excellence (with Paz de la Huerta)

When I think of websites that trade largely in page views from Search Engine Optimization (SEO), I think of news aggregator websites or corners of the web best avoided like Bleacher Report. One website that I wouldn’t expect to have gone hard on SEO to drive page views was Esquire.com. But I found some interesting URLs for their latest “Me In My Place” shoot with Paz de la Huerta. Turns out that they’re using some pretty neat words in their URLs to act as SEO keywords.

After the jump, I use some craptacular SEO to show off Esquire’s great SEO URLs with bonus pictures of Paz de la Huerta. Continue reading

Man Lab Showdown: Anna Kendrick vs. Aimee Teegarden

Normally, I like to think that my choices for eye candy on the Sunday Link-Off are superior to Jackie’s choices for the Entertainment Link-Off. This past weekend, however, it was too close to call if you ask me. So I’ve decided to open up the Man Lab to determine who is the better looking young, up-and-coming Hollywood starlet featured on the blog this weekend. In one corner is Anna Kendrick, a brunette who shot to fame co-starring with George Clooney in Up in the Air and by appearing in Twilight so she clearly has some comedic chops. Aimee Teegarden clearly prefers teen-oriented material with appearances in teen angst dramas such as Friday Night Lights and Gossip Girl.
