The recent release of the new GoldenEye 007 game by Activision also brought us a new take on the GoldenEye theme originally sung by Tina Turner. For the game, it’s sung by Nicole Scherzinger. But the new GoldenEye game isn’t the only Bond game that got an exclusive theme song. As with every other Bond theme, there’s debate as to which theme is the best. So here’s our rankings of the best James Bond video game themes. Continue reading

NHL Power Rankings: Week 7

Another week, another round of the Power Rankings as we head into the 7th week of the 2010-11 NHL season. I figured that I would have given up by now but people are actually reading this. Actually, if you Google NHL power rankings, we’re the 1st site to come up… Well, at least when I checked on Monday monring before anyone else came out with theirs for the week. It’s a stretch to say that we can be mentioned in the same breath as TSN, CBC, ESPN, Sportsnet and Yahoo but if we’re occasionally number one in Google’s NHL Power Rankings Power Rankings, I’ll take it. Mind you, on Tuesday we were on the second page so I can’t really gloat. Anyhow, we have a familiar face at the top of this week’s rankings. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Discipline

Let’s kick off these links with Canada’s own Jessica Lowndes who celebrated her 22nd birthday with cupcakes.

With the CFL regular season in the books and division finals coming up this weekend, here’s a look at the five best and worst moments from this season. (55-Yard Line)

In the midst of a labour relations case that the NHL is involved in, several emails from Colin Campbell were made public. In one of them, he refers to one of the players he coached as a “little fake artist.” So who is this guy he loathes so much? (MC79 Hockey)

And speaking of NHL discipline, here’s Sean Avery cheapshotting Ladislav Smid. Doubt he’ll get suspended because Campbell likes the Rangers. (Tirico Suave)

After the jump, Brett Favre’s hypothetical benching, everybody does the Dougie and the return of DJ Steve Porter. Continue reading

Not News of the Week

It’s time for the weirdest and wackiest stories from around the world. It’s time for the Not News of the Week.

Sometimes it takes a little help to keep a would-be crook down. In New Hampshire, it takes a little help from the produce section. A would-be thief tried to hold up a convenience store but was taken down from behind by a customer. When he later tried to escape while the store owner called the police, he was quickly brought down by a squash-wielding delivery man. The produce delivery product came in as the thief tried exiting and sacrificed his product in a shower of squash innards and seeds. That gives new meaning to cleanup in aisle three. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Rihanna – What’s My Name?

The second winner of the Worst of Music award on the blog goes to a radio show regular. Rihanna is a multi-time winner of the WoM on The Lowdown BlogCast and joins Ke$ha as a winner on the blog as well as podcast. Of course, it was Rihanna who was my inspiration for creating the Worst of Music on the podcast to begin with so it’s only fitting that she wins the award yet again for What’s My Name? F1 Abu Dhabi GP: Passing The Torch

The final race of the season didn’t need a contrived playoff format to produce proper drama in the final round of the 2010 Formula One World Championship. With the World Constructors’ Championship all wrapped up, the Red Bull duo of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel looked to steal the championship from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. Vettel did all he could to win the title by speeding away from Alonso and Webber but it took a little bit of help for the German to win the World Drivers’ Championship. A bad strategy call dropped Alonso down the standings and it was Sebastian Vettel who won the 2010 Formula One World Championship. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Let’s Go Racing

Before today’s F1 season finale let’s get the Sunday links out of the way. Let’s kick these off with Erin Heatherton, one of the up and comers at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

We’ve finally got a (new) release date for Gran Turismo 5. It’s on November 24 so you’ve got 10 days to either pre-order or camp out to get it. (Kotaku)

And since this sort of stuff is important with Gran Turismo games, here’s the complete car and track lists for the game. (Jalopnik)

This might not have anything to do with GT5 but it’s a live musical performance by Jimmy McMillan. Why? Because the rent is too damn high. (Urlesque)

After the jump, more video game links, the evil MLB YouTube police and the easiest way to get your beer. Continue reading
