46 Musical Acts Rejected Before Madonna For Super Bowl XLVI

It wasn’t without controversy that the latest act in the post-Wardrobe Malfunction era of Super Bowl halftime shows was Madonna. She’s never been the most wholesome person in the world but now that she’s well past 50, she’s not only relatively harmless compared to the past, she’s relative irrelevant. However, the NFL went through a long list of performers before finally settling on Madonna as the best option for the Super Bowl.

After the jump, we have all 46 proposed act for the Super Bowl XLVI half-time show and why they were dropped. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: The Squeeze

I know I should lead off with Yvonne Strahovski but my computer suffered a complete hard drive failure and I lost all my good Strahovski pics. Hopefully Canadian model Kim Cloutier makes up for it.

Wednesday Link-Off: Gonna Be A Man In Motion

I have no idea who Katrina Bowden is but she’s in 30 Rock and it’s back this week so I figured it would be appropriate to lead off this post with her. I should have used a Denver Broncos cheerleader…

The Economics of College Bowl Games (Infographic)

Tonight is the BCS National Championship Game between the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. It will be the first time under the BCS system that two teams that have faced each other in the regular season have done battle in the national championship game.

Why would the BCS replay a game that we’ve already seen and fell asleep watching? For the money. As the following infographic shows, there’s quite a bit of money to be made from bowl games. Continue reading

Jerome Simpson Wins Week 16

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson makes the highlight of all highlight reel plays that you’ll see this week in the NFL. He finishes this 19-yard touchdown pass from Andy Dalton with a front flip over Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington for the major.

Wednesday Link-Off: Catching Up

Writing a linkdump when you’re in a timezone completely opposite the rest of the blogosphere is harder than I expected. That’s why there’s fewer links than usual. That doesn’t explain how I completely missed Michelle Trachtenberg on the Maxim cover back in March. Why was I not informed?

The Best of Occupy Tebow (Part 2)

The revolution will not be quieted until the media has learned its lesson. The media has been hot and cold on Tim Tebow and his inconsistent performances en route to a 2-1 record as a starter this season.  For over a week now, the people have taken to the comments section on an ESPN article on Tebow ostensibly to show what they really think of Tebow but in actuality to show ESPN and the media that they cannot dictate reality but actually have to report news accurately without an agenda..

After the jump, we have 25 more of the best comments from Occupy Tebow. Continue reading

The Best of Occupy Tebow

The revolution will not be televised but rather posted on the internet. The media has been championing Tim Tebow as a great winner and essentially promoting him as the second coming for the Denver Broncos. His first start this season was 57 minutes of poor play followed by a comeback. His second start was utter garbage. Only then the media figured out that Tebow wasn’t the be all and end all of quarterbacks. Now, the people have taken to the ESPN comments section on an anti-Tebow article to show what they really think of Tebow.

Hit the jump for 30 of the best comments from Occupy Tebow and find out what really is greater than Tebow. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Biography

Despite the fact that we’re only 8 days away from Halloween, we actually have fewer Halloween links than on Wednesday. That means I can’t use my prepared joke about starting this edition of the SLO with the very unscary Stacy Keibler.

Every Steve Jobs biography that was being written has been expedited. That includes the authorized biography by Walter Isaacson. Naturally, some of the more interesting parts of the book have been leaked. (Gizmodo)
