Sunday Link-Off: One vs. All

charlotte-muscleandfitness16-01Wrestling fans will notice that the title is the theme of tonight’s Royal Rumble. I’m hoping that All wins tonight but I’m not going to put money on that given how the Fed has booked the last 20 months. By the time ‘Mania rolls around, the Fed will have given Reigns a non-stop 22-month push for one Wrestemania moment. And you wonder why Raw’s ratings have tanked over the last few years.

Anyway, it’s Sunday which means it’s time for us to do the links. Let’s kick things off with WWE Divas Champion Charlotte.

Entertainment Link-Off: Over the Wall

caity lotzThe weekend is finally here! Time to sit back and check out the new releases like Dirty Grandpa or The 5th Wave in cinemas. Based on the reviews though, perhaps Netflix and chill doesn’t seem so bad now. Anyway, Legends of Tomorrow premiered earlier this week on The CW and the show is off to a solid start. Heck, just seeing Caity Lotz on the screen is totally worth devoting my time to the show.

FIM Speedway Grand Prix 15 Review: Get Dirty

fim-speedway-grand-prix-15-headerOne of the great things about the current gaming ecosystem is that not every game has to be a massive triple-A effort. It opens up the market to smaller games that wouldn’t have been made in the past. Take FIM Speedway Grand Prix 15, for example. Flat-track dirt oval motorcycle racing is so niche that I’m not sure that I ever saw it on Speed Channel. Yet this fairly unheard of form of two-wheel motorsport has one of the best racing games of 2015.

Wednesday Link-Off: The New Economy

Basically, unless you’re in oil, it looks like the economy is only going to benefit the rich. Those income inequality charts are just going to keep getting worse.

Anyway, it’s Wednesday so you know what that means. Let’s kick off with Hayden Panettiere who certainly doesn’t look like she did on Heroes.

Game of Thrones – Episode Six Review: Next Time on Game of Thrones

game-of-thrones-episode-six-headerIt’s interesting how well-received that Game of Thrones is in print and on TV but the ASOIAF/GOT franchise has never been well-received in the gaming world. Unfortunately for Telltale Games, so far, the critics have said the same about their take on a Game of Thrones game.

Telltale’s Game of Thrones series came to an end with the sixth episode. Perhaps the extra length beyond the standard Telltale fare was unnecessary. The series had been good but not the greatness that we were used to from Telltale. Unfortunately, Episode Six: The Ice Dragon did nothing to change that perception.

Sunday Link-Off: Follow the Money

With all of the Super PACs in America that sound like they give carte blanche to donors and money in politics, I wonder how Canada has avoided being controlled by political interests. Maybe our politicians are and we just don’t know it. It’s funny how such a massive story in American politics gets no equivalent local interest here.

Anyway, it’s Sunday so it’s time for us to do the links. Since there is a lot of politics in this post, here is the politically active Katy Perry.

Ted Cruz is making a charge for the Republican Presidential nomination based on nothing that makes sense. He’s lied about how he financed his Senate campaign and his positions are in contradiction to his history. (Washington Post)

President Obama has declared a national emergency in Flint over the water crisis while Michael Moore asks the President to visit the city when he goes to Detroit this week. (New York Times)

Contrary to what the GOP thought, the Iran nuclear deal seems to have worked. They’re officially deemed compliant with the agreement and have had sanctions lifted so they can re-enter the economy. (Washington Post)

There are a few releases in cinemas this week as Michael Bay’s 13 Hours takes on the comedy Ride Along 2 in hopes of challenging for the crown at the box office. Seriously though, are they really gonna top Star Wars? Meanwhile in Australia, I’m gearing up for the Australian Open on Monday, so I’m gonna kick off the ELO with fellow Canadian, Eugenic Bouchard.
