Entertainment Link-Off: Over the Wall

caity lotzThe weekend is finally here! Time to sit back and check out the new releases like Dirty Grandpa or The 5th Wave in cinemas. Based on the reviews though, perhaps Netflix and chill doesn’t seem so bad now. Anyway, Legends of Tomorrow premiered earlier this week on The CW and the show is off to a solid start. Heck, just seeing Caity Lotz on the screen is totally worth devoting my time to the show.

After the jump, Avatar 2 is no long battling Star Wars for the box office crown, Oscars shake-up is on its way due to some recent controversy, Kylo Ren goes undercover, the return of Key and Peele and Happy Australia Day from Deadpool!

It was only a matter of time someone blinks. In this case, it would be James Cameron as Avatar 2 won’t meet its planned December 2017 release date. This allows Star Wars Episode VIII to officially take over the holiday season box office. (The Wrap)

Here’s an interesting cast choice. Benedict Wong has been cast as Wong in the upcoming Doctor Strange flick. (THR)

Will Smith won’t be attending the Oscars this year amidst the controversy over the nominees. Now let’s be on the watch for other actors to follow suit in the weeks ahead. (Screen Crush)

Something to look forward to in the upcoming season 2 of Daredevil. They plan on topping that hallway fight sequence from the first season. (IGN)

While I’m still a bit skeptical about the concept at least Len Wisemen seems confident in it. Since he did do a decent job with Live Free or Die Hard, perhaps Die Hard Year One would turn out okay unlike A Good Day to Die Hard. (Collider)

Well onto the topic of bad sequels, Terminator Genysis got so much hate that the next followup has been pulled from the schedule by Paramount. (Vulture)

Just in case you missed it last week, this is a hilarious SNL sketch as Kylo Ren disguises himself as Matt in Undercover Boss: Star Killer Base edition. (Facebook)

Heroes may have been canned by NBC again, but Tim Kring refuses to give up on his baby! (TV Insider)

It was a good night for The CW with the premiere of Legends of Tomorrow and season 3 of The 100. Best performing Thursday night in years for the network. (Deadline)

Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are back at CBS to work on a comedy pilot about a long distance relationship. After HIMYM’s controversial farewell 2 years ago, safe to say a good portion of the audience will pass on this one. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice… (TV Line)

Nielsen is getting on with the times! Looks like the ratings system will look to include trends on Twitter and Facebook. (NPR)

If you’re itching for more Key and Peele, then have a look at the hilarious red band trailer for their flick Keanu.

Is it just me or does The Divergent Series feel like it’s going off the rails? The latest trailer for Allegiant just doesn’t work. The visuals and the music don’t match and the CGI looks terrible.

Steven Soderbergh is bringing The Girlfriend Experience to TV and the trailer looks pretty solid.

It’s Australia Day long weekend over in the land down under. What better way than to kick things off with a message from Deadpool?
