OUA Gameday: 2011 Season Preview

The 2011 OUA football season kicks off with a full slate of games on Monday. This season, ten teams battle for the 104th Yates Cup thanks to the return of the Waterloo Warriors after a season-long program suspension. Wednesday Link-Off: Hurricane Speed

You won’t know it when you read it but I left this edition of the Wednesday links to the last minute. Part of the problem was picking out who to lead this post with. A lot of people were impressed with Victoria Justice at the VMAs and who am I to disappoint?

As we all know, Star Wars is coming to Blu-Ray this fall. Naturally, George Lucas is going to make some tweaks to improve the films. However, his idea of improvements are very different from rational human beings. (io9)

The gang over at recently wrapped up their search for the worst cover song of all-time. Normally, we would expect William Shatner’s cover of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds to take the top spot. However, the readers of Rolling Stone have found something worse to take the crown from Shatner and I don’t think the world is better for their discovery. Join The Lowdown Fantasy Football Pool

It’s almost time for football! The season starts in ten days so we’re launching our first ever Lowdown Blog Fantasy Football Pool. The pool is hosted on ESPN.com and uses their scoring system. There are only 20 spots in the pool and it’s a public pool so anyone can join and spaces will go quickly. Each team can start the ESPN default 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 Defence and 1 K.

Entertainment Link Off: Look Into My Eyes

It’s Saturday, so that means it’s time for another hit of the Entertainment Link-Off. It’s the dog days of summer at the movies and it doesn’t look like new releases would be making that big of a splash at the box office this weekend. Kicking off this entry is Rachel Nichols from her latest shoot with Maxim. Sadly despite her good looks, it hardly drew anyone to see the remake of Conan the Barbarian.
