Entertainment Link-Off: It’s Hammer Time!

It’s time for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. To celebrate the release of Thor this weekend, here’s Jaimie Alexander who plays Sif in the film.

After the jump, some Marvel related news, the Janitor from Scrubs located Osama bin Laden 4 years ago, saying goodbye to Smallville, the Home Alone house is up for sale and not all Asians know kung fu! Continue reading

Movie Review: Thor

Already given my thoughts on this flick back on April 21st in 140 characters on Twitter, but at Steve’s request, here’s a slightly longer review for your reading pleasure.

Thor is far from being a game changer for films that are adapted from a comic book series, though it is a solid entertaining film. While there is enough humour and action to keep the audiences engaged for its two hour running time, this film is actually one of the softer Marvel films to be released. That’s probably something Thor didn’t want to hear… Continue reading

Worst of Music: Katy Perry – Friday

I don’t like using live concert covers as the Worst of Music award winner but this time an exception has been earned. I’ve previously named Rebecca Black’s Friday as the Worst of Music. I even suggested that it could go down as one of the worst songs of 2011. Then I heard Katy Perry’s cover of Friday. Just when I thought that the original was a crime against music, this live cover comes along and takes the crown. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Getting Revved Up

Fast Five is out this weekend and I was initially going to kick off this entry with Jordana Brewster but since Steve beat me to the punch, I’ll kick things off with Friday Night Lights alum Aimee Teegarden. Catch her while you can in the final season of FNL on NBC at 9 pm on Fridays or perhaps head to the big screens to see her as the leading lady in Disney’s latest flick Prom.

After the jump, never use real guns when making videos, movie trailers galore and an awesome music medley to listen to. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Rihanna & Britney Spears – S&M

How do you get a couple extra bucks out of a previously released single? Release a remix. But how to do you make more than a couple extra bucks? Get a formerly popular singer who traded largely on sex appeal to record some lines for the song and re-release it. That’s exactly the plan of attack behind the recent surge in popularity of Rihanna’s S&M. Take the song and add Britney Spears to give you this week’s Worst of Music. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Bring on the Thunder

It’s battle of the big blockbusters in Australia this weekend with Thor duking it out against Fast Five at the theatres. This is a somewhat unusual case of having two big movies open in the same week well ahead of their North American release dates. Meanwhile back in Canada and the US… there’s nothing all that worth looking at this weekend. I’ll just kick star this ELO with Jamie Chung because she was featured in the latest Esquire photoshoot.

After the jump, 3D porn film tops Avatar in Hong Kong, some Transformers related news, Joseph Gordon-Levitt teaches Conan how to headbang, an interested film related music video and an awesome way to propose to your girlfriend at the movies. Continue reading

The History of Doctor Who Theme Music

Any true Brit or Anglophiles know the cultural impact of Doctor Who. The show is one of the iconic pieces of British culture and science fiction. The show has been on-air since 1963 and, coming into this season, has aired 770 episodes and one TV movie. Each of those episodes has started with the iconic Doctor Who theme song originally composed by Ron Grainer. Unlike your standard TV show, however, the Doctor Who theme has undergone some dramatic revisions. So as the 32nd season is about to get underway, here is a look back at the history of the Doctor Who opening music. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Britney Spears – Till The World Ends

I never thought I’d say this but I’ve actually missed Britney Spears. Her albums are basically Worst of Music anthologies. If you ever need an easy target to pick for a bad song, Britney is a good place to go. That’s well illustrated by the fact that Till the World Ends is the second single off Britney’s new Femme Fatale album that I’ve named the Worst of Music. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: What’s Your Favourite Scary Movie?

After taking last week off, I’m back with another Entertainment Link-Off. So it’s been many years in the making but Scream 4 is finally in theatres. While not exactly the best of the series, it is much better than the third film of the franchise. Plus, gotta love the excess of eye candy in this right? Kicking off this entry is Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere at the Scream 4 premiere.

After the jump, a few more Scream related tidbits, an interesting Roger Ebert TED talk, Transformers: Dark of the Moon looks somewhat promising, Yvonne Strahovski channels her inner Gaga, everybody loves Community and the first episode of Mortal Kombat Legacy! Continue reading

Worst of Music: Black Eyed Peas – Just Can’t Get Enough

A day late and a dollar short, it’s time for us to declare another piece of musical crime as the Worst of Music. This week’s WoM winner isn’t exactly a stranger to the award. I’ve mentioned before that their song Boom Boom Bow was part of the inspiration behind the creation of the WoM. Their last two albums, The E.N.D. and The Beginning, have basically guaranteed them a place in the WoM Hall of Fame. But that’s not going to stop us from naming BEP’s latest single Just Can’t Get Enough as this week’s Worst of Music. Continue reading
