Worst of Music: Benni Cinkle – Can You See Me Now

The musical wonder that is Rebecca Black is the gift that keeps on giving. First, we had Friday. Then, Good Morning America and Ark Music Factory tried to find out if they could make any random American teen a viral internet sensation. And then Rebecca was back with her second single which was an answer to critics which did more to prove them right than anything. And that brings us to now. Remember the girl in pink in the video for Friday who was kicking in the back seat cruising on the highway (fun, fun, think about fun)? Now she’s got her own song and music video. Her name is Benni Cinkle and her new song is apparently called Can You See Me Now. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Rebecca Black – My Moment

Guess who’s back? A couple of weeks after we had Ark Music Factory’s latest “star,” we have the return of Ark’s original internet sensation, Rebecca Black. She seems to have taken note of all the criticism lobbed her and Ark’s way from Friday and dismissed it. And that leads us to this week’s Worst of Music from Rebecca Black called My Moment. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Katy Perry – Last Friday Night

So what happens when one of the day’s top artists gets annoyed with the YouTube sensation. She releases one of the crap songs off the end of her album as a single so she can make a music video mocking said YouTube sensation. And that’s how we’ve ended up with Katy Perry’s song Last Friday Night as this week’s WoM winner. It may not be the worst song in the world this week. It just has the least care put into it to make it music. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Katy Perry – Friday

I don’t like using live concert covers as the Worst of Music award winner but this time an exception has been earned. I’ve previously named Rebecca Black’s Friday as the Worst of Music. I even suggested that it could go down as one of the worst songs of 2011. Then I heard Katy Perry’s cover of Friday. Just when I thought that the original was a crime against music, this live cover comes along and takes the crown. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Mind-bending Reality

It’s another loaded weekend at the box office. For those in Canada, you can enjoy the “greatest Canadian movie ever” (quoted from Steve Murray) called Hobo with a Shotgun. Meanwhile for the rest of the folks in North America, how about some eye candy galore in Sucker Punch? Ok it’s getting drubbed by critics as Zack Snyder’s first misfire, but the stylistic action and the lead actresses are worth a look. Kicking off this entry is Jamie Chung who plays Amber in the film.

After the jump more episodes of the Star Wars parody Troopers, Bryan Singer explains why Superman Returns didn’t quite click with its audience, Rebecca Black is becoming richer because of our hatred and Nick Pitera is a one-man Disney movie! Continue reading

Worst of Music: Rebecca Black – Friday

Normally I go to the Billboard Hot 100 to pick the WoM each week. This week, Twitter made my choice for me thanks to the week’s big musical trending topic. Rebecca Black is a 13-year-old girl whose father bought her a song produced by a company that specializes in producing songs for teens. Maybe Daddy should have held on to his money because the end result of Rebecca and Ark Music Factory is nothing short of atrocious. This week’s WoM is Rebecca Black’s Friday. Continue reading
