A day late and a dollar short, it’s time for us to declare another piece of musical crime as the Worst of Music. This week’s WoM winner isn’t exactly a stranger to the award. I’ve mentioned before that their song Boom Boom Bow was part of the inspiration behind the creation of the WoM. Their last two albums, The E.N.D. and The Beginning, have basically guaranteed them a place in the WoM Hall of Fame. But that’s not going to stop us from naming BEP’s latest single Just Can’t Get Enough as this week’s Worst of Music.
At the very least, we should all consider ourselves lucky that they didn’t play this song at the Super Bowl. It was a bad enough performance that its horridness made for the busiest my Twitter feed was at any point during the game. We should also be glad that BEP didn’t cover the Depeche Mode song of the same name. After all, their pseudo-cover of (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life was ear-bleedingly painful so another cover would only end badly as well. Anyway, the lyrics suck and there’s gratuitous overuse of autotune. Seriously, who says “love you long time” in a song?
So congrats, BEP. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.
Have a better WoM candidate for next week? Drop it in the comments.
