A week and a half is all we have left in the NHL regular season so we come to the final NHL Power Ranking of the 2010-11 season on The Lowdown Blog. It’s been a long run that has trailed off as of late but that’s what happens when life gets in the way. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have all 30 NHL teams ranked from top to bottom for you once again. We have a new team atop the rankings this week and it really shouldn’t surprise anyone. Worst of Music: Katy Perry – E.T.
This week’s WoM was actually a tough decision. There were a good eight songs on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 that could be legitimate Worst of Music winners this week. (Bruno Mars’s Grenade already won the WoM and the other is Cee Lo Green’s Fuck You which I like.) So I went with the song of the week that could have been the greatest but failed miserably. Regular visitors to The Lowdown Blog know what my Power Rankings are all about. New visitors may be slightly confused. Well, it’s only going to get worse from here. Every Wednesday, I’ll post my rankings of the drivers in Formula One. The rankings will be based on their how they’re running this season (or in testing for this first race), past performance at the upcoming track, the performance of the car and other intangibles that affect their performance (see Favre, Brett). It’s time for the weirdest and wackiest stories from around the world. It’s time for the Not News of the Week.
If you were looking for a detour in downtown Houston last week, you might have gotten lost. A prankster changed an electronic “DETOUR” sign to “POOP.” The prankster also got in a crack of “:) LOL” before workers regained control of the sign. Apparently hacking the computer controlling an electronic sign in Texas is punishable with up to a $500 fine. That hasn’t deterred anyone from doing it, though. In 2009, a sign in Austin was changed to read “Zombies in area! Run!” Continue reading

Normally I go to the Billboard Hot 100 to pick the WoM each week. This week, Twitter made my choice for me thanks to the week’s big musical trending topic. Rebecca Black is a 13-year-old girl whose father bought her a song produced by a company that specializes in producing songs for teens.
