Entertainment Link-Off: Notorious

I’ve drawn in for Jackie for this week’s edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. To kick things off, here’s Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive Katrina Bowden. If you watch 30 Rock (which I haven’t since the first episode with the exception of the Night Court episode), you might have seen her.

The FBI don’t have a reputation for being the most open agency of the US government but they made an effort this week. They’ve made files from their investigation into the murder of Notorious BIG open to the public. (LA Times)

After the jump, Snooki goes to WrestleMania, the richest characters of all-time, and a Star Wars parody of Friday. Continue reading

The Best of That’s Why I Dumped You

It’s been a while since we’ve added a new website to our best of the interweb series. This new one is That’sWhyIDumpedYou.com. TWIDY compiles some great reasons why people have broken up with their significant others. We’ve all been there and know how stinging a breakup can be. However, in hindsight, they can be pretty good to laugh at. So let’s look at some funny breakup reasons to make us all feel a little better. Continue reading

F1 Power Rankings: Malaysian Grand Prix

One race into the nineteen race 2011 Formula One World Championship and I don’t think that the picture is any clearer. Some of the expect frontrunners were slow off the mark in Australia. Some of the midpack teams, like Sauber and Toro Rosso, had surprising runs which could have them thinking points in every race. So who looks good heading into this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix? This week’s Power Rankings takes a stab at it. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Play Ball

It’s Wednesday! Wednesday! Gotta get down on Wednesday! Sorry, I’ll eventually stop those jokes. Anyway, here’s Brooklyn Decker.

What happens when an April Fools joke is joked itself? Well, that’s what happened when some techies at USC made GMail Motion a reality. (New York Times)

Planning on going to a baseball game this season? You might want to plan your visit around one of these crazy promotions. (Mental Floss)

Just because March Madness is over doesn’t mean that bracket madness is over. Now we’ve got the bracket for the most powerful person in sports. (Business Insider)

After the jump, the future of beer vendors, betting on WrestleMania 27, and Colbert gets down on Friday. Continue reading

Not News of the Week

If it’s not worth talking about, then it must be the Not News of the Week.

It just can’t be a proper edition of the Not News unless we have a story about sex gone wrong. Well, that depends on your perspective. A couple at the University of Southern California make big news last week when hundreds of people witnessed them having sex on top of the 12-story Waite Phillips Hall on the USC campus. The man was identified as a member of USC’s Kappa Sigma frat while the woman is not believed to be a USC student. Reports say that the two kept at it for a bit and never felt compelled to move away from the edge of the roof. I just hope they were smart enough to use Trojan condoms. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Chris Brown – Look At Me Now

Sometimes songs win the Worst of Music award because they’re legitimately horrible songs. Other times, they can win just because of how ironic they are. Take the latest offering from Chris Brown called Look At Me Now. If you have to ask how this song is ironic, then you’ve probably been living under a rock for the last couple of years. That and you haven’t listened to the song. Continue reading

Lowdown Monthly – March 2011

It’s time to once again take a look back at the past month here on the blog with Lowdown Monthly. It’s a recap of our favourite and most popular posts from March in one handy spot. If we did a Best of The Lowdown Blog, this would be it. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Opening Weekend

I’m back for another edition of the Sunday links. This one is slightly less rushed than Wednesday’s edition but to make up for that one, here’s Lowdown favourite Kate Upton.

WrestleMania 27 is tonight in Atlanta. I’m excited because The Rock will be there an almost certainly make an impact. Even more exciting is the fact that you can bet on the outcome of the matches. (Bodog)

As we kick off the 2011 MLB season, legendary baseball writer and statistician Bill James laments the lack of quality up-and-coming sports writers. (Slate)

It’s easy to understand his concern when you realize that computers are pumping out better game stories than real writers. (Deadspin)

After the jump, some more baseball links, hot women won’t go Dutch and Everybody Loves Raymond goes to Russia. Continue reading
