It was supposed to be fairly academic. Mark Webber would lead away from pole. Sebastian Vettel would take advantage of the clean line from his third place starting spot to pass Hamilton for second. Then it would be a simple Sunday drive to the finish and another weekend of Red Bull domination. Unfortunately for the energy drink brigade, it didn’t go according to plan. While Red Bull’s plans didn’t come together, Bernie’s plan for a return to America finally came together and Pirelli’s plan for an entrance into F1 is all but sealed. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Blockbuster Weekend
It’s clash of the big tentpole films this weekend as Sex and the City 2 faces off against the previous champ Shrek Forever After and Disney’s latest Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Kicking off this Entertainment Link-Off is Gemma Arterton who plays Tamina in Prince of Persia. The video game adaptation is getting mixed reviews but it’s apparently one of the better ones out there.
After the jump Les Grossman returns, learn you ABC’s with Wolverine and Lost finale aftermath. Continue reading
Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: One Down…
Game one of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals were last night. It definitely didn’t go according to the script as the two offenses traded blows, the defences stood idly by and goalies worked on their tan thanks to the goal light. In all, 11 goals were scored over the sixty minutes of play. At the end of those three periods, one team was one win closer to winning Lord Stanley’s Cup. Continue reading
Saturday Link-Off: The Backup Plan
Don’t adjust your screens. I’m filling in on a Saturday. To make up for the lack of Jackie, here’s Alice Eve who might actually put the “sex” in Sex and the City.
Ozzie Guillen is my favourite baseball manager. Not only does he say what he thinks but he’ll write what he wants to fans. (Deadspin)
Think what you will about Barack Obama, there’s one think that Dubya did better: Golfing. So what’s it like hitting the links with the former first golfer? (Wei Under Par)
The Apple iPad came out around the world yesterday. Still not convinced that you should buy one? Here’s some reason you should pick one up… Assuming they’re not already all sold out. (Daily Telegraph)

The Humanoids: The Grand Return
After nearly two months out of action, it’s the return of The Humanoids. A lot of stuff has happened over the last few weeks that needs to be smacked around in that classic cynical/sarcastic Humanoids way. The format is just the same as you remember but the numbers have changed slightly because we don’t have a radio station to subtly give a nod to. So, without further ado, the return of The Humanoids. Continue reading
2010 Stanley Cup Finals Preview
Over the last eight months, the field has slowly been widdled from 30 to 16 to 8 to 4 and now to the final two teams fighting for Lord Stanley’s Cup. Heading into the season, the Chicago Blackhawks were a media favourite to make it to the big dance. The Philadelphia Flyers were considered a dark horse in October and a longshot after making it into the post-season on the final day of the regular season. Now, one of these teams is four wins away from lifting the Stanley Cup. Continue reading
Wednesday Link-Off: Strolling On
Leading off today’s linkdump is Jennifer Love Hewitt. That being said, let’s ignore the craptacular movie whose premier she’s attending here.
They track stats of everything in baseball so it should come as no surprise that someone also tracks how long it takes a player to trot after a home run. One fighter dominates this category. (Wezen Ball)
How do you get fired from your teaching job in Mississippi? Get body slammed by a student. (Dr. Saturday)
Madison Square Garden is undergoing a retrofit soon. Some of the ideas are a bit out there, though. (New York Post)
After the jump, the Green Ranger steps into the cage, nine meals that can kill you, and car soccer. Continue reading
Lowdown Radio: May 25, 2010
For the second-last time, The Lowdown hit the airwaves of London, Ontario. It was another summer themed episode as the boys spent most of the episode talking about cars and driving. The episode started with a look at some of the best driving songs ever made. They follow this up with a pair of news stories about a teacher in a goth band (which degenerates into a discussion about drunken debauchery) and a soccer player who got carded for dropping dead. In entertainment, Jackie’s got an all-NBC single of the week while It Came From YouTube has a superstar cover of Don’t Stop Believing. After the break is the return of the Car Wall with four different types of cars are added. The show is capped off with the return of Oddsmakers. It’s a crammed 28 minutes that ranks among our best episodes of the season.

On Lowdown Extra, there’s another song for the greatest driving songs list, another car for the Car Wall and a motorsports question added to Oddsmakers. The cuts of the greatest driving songs are longer. Two more stories make the news including one about cars. The Worst of Music returns to the original intro but has a new band called 3Oh!3 picking up the award. After the break in the Extra, the boys (mostly Steve) go off the deep end as they breakdown a review of the show sent to Steve by a radio station that the radio show is syndicated to. The boys pick apart everything from the lack of logic of the reviewer to the grammar of the review. Basically, they reviewed the review and had a laugh doing so. In all, this week’s Extra is a whopping 105 minutes. That’s nearly two hours of continuous Lowdown insanity. As always, the action is uncut and extremely uncensored.
Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: And Then There Were Two
The Montreal Canadiens were in a familiar situation. Down in the series once again, the Canadiens were hoping to pull off another comeback in hopes of reaching the conference finals. Everyone is always up for a good underdog story, but unfortunately not all underdog stories conclude with a happy ending. Continue reading
Chuck Season Three Finale Primer
Seventeen episodes down and only two to go. Tonight marks the end of the third season of Chuck. Unlike last season, the show has already been renewed for a fourth season. But just because the show is safe from cancellation doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be watching it. Unlike last night’s Lost finale, catching you up for tonight’s finale of Chuck should be fairly straight-forward. Continue reading
