I was fairly certain that the field for the 2011 Worst of Music award was set by this point of the calendar. Rebecca Black’s Friday and Pitbull’s Give Me Everything were the clear frontrunners with a half-dozen or so darkhorses with an outside chance. Well, the top two just got some company thanks to this week’s WoM winner. I thought the backing music was back but add in the atrocious lyrics and you suddenly have a song which contends for the worst of the year. This week’s WoM is B.o.B featuring Lil Wayne with Strange Clouds. Continue reading
The History of Canadian Thanksgiving (Infographic)
Today is Thanksgiving in Canada. Obviously, it’s on a different day and month than our neighbours to the south who have theirs on the fourth Thursday in November. Ours is on the second Monday of October. But it wasn’t always on Monday or even in October. In fact, Thanksgiving in Canada has been in April, May, June and November before being an October holiday. So to celebrate our Thanksgiving, here’s an infographic with the history of Canadian Thanksgiving. Continue reading
Sunday Link-Off: Seeing Red
It’s the Sunday before Canadian Thanksgiving. I’d like to run some Canadian eye candy to lead off here but I couldn’t find anything recent. So I’ll go Brazilian instead with Cintia Dicker.
Since his death on Wednesday night, the tributes and memorials for Steve Jobs have poured in. However, perspective seems to have been completely lost. Steve Jobs might have created a powerhouse company but he’s not God. (Gawker)
The Occupy Wall Street protests are still ongoing but do you actually know what’s happening and what it’s about? (Esquire)
Fighting in hockey has been a hot issue for the last five months. However, not everyone is ready to banish fighters and fighting from the game. Even self-described pacifists think fisticuffs still have a place in the game. (Backhand Shelf)

Night Court: The Complete Listing Of Every Episode On The Internet
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but I’m a huge fan of the classic NBC sitcom Night Court. I grew up watching the show and always watched it when it would occasionally pop up in reruns and syndication on TV. But thanks to the internet, you don’t have to wait for something to pop up on TV to watch it.
So through some painstaking research, I’ve managed to dig up every Night Court episode on the internet and compile them all here. Continue reading
Man Lab: Desserts for Canadian Thanksgiving
If you’re in America, you’re wondering what the hell I’m on about with recipes for Thanksgiving dessert. Well, Thanksgiving in Canada is this Monday. Everyone knows that the entrée for Thanksgiving has to be a turkey. Sides should be stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash and cranberry sauce. But that leaves dessert. I’ve never found a consensus for Thanksgiving dessert. Pumpkin pie seems traditional but apple pie is also a popular dish. I’ve also found another use for pumpkin in your dessert. So here are three Thanksgiving dessert recipes for you to try this weekend. Continue reading
Man Lab Showdown: Jennifer Aniston vs. Malin Akerman
This weekend is setting up to be one of the more interesting weekends in cinema for a while. That’s because rumour has it that Jennifer Aniston is going nude in the new movie Wanderlust which is debuting this weekend. While guys have been waiting for Aniston to finally have a full-fledged proper nude scene, that might not be the highlight of the movie because Canadian star Malin Akerman is also starring in the movie. And that inspires this edition of the Man Lab Showdown. In one corner is America’s sweetheart Jennifer Aniston. In the other is Canadian comedic star Malin Akerman.

F1 Power Rankings: Japanese Grand Prix
There are only five races to go in the 2011 Formula One World Championship. Sebastian Vettel leads the World Drivers’ Championship standings by 124 points over Jenson Button which means that he only needs to score one point over the final five races to win the title. McLaren says that they want to delay Vettel’s coronation for as long as possible. The only way to do that is to have Vettel taken out. Could we see McLaren sabotage or Hamilton used as a kamikaze driver (not that he needs the encouragement) for the final five races to help Button chase after the title? Continue reading
NFL Week 4 Power Rankings
I had some technical difficulty last week in posting the Week 3 Power Rankings and picks but if you are super curious about the rankings I did reflect it in last week’s rankings.
I had some fun this week taking a look at some surprising and unsurprising stats about each team. This was much preferable than me talking about how regardless of how a team has performed I didn’t really like them. Anyway have fun with the rankings!

Wednesday Link-Off: Big Money
Well, I just dropped $50 on my office hockey pool which I doubt I’m going to get back. So here’s some Jessica Lowndes to make me feel better.
Twitter is looking for new ways to earn revenue before its moment as the big social network passes. But can it be done? (New York Magazine)
Speaking of money, Stephen Harper spent the last election claiming he was the best choice for the Canadian economy. However, he hasn’t done much to prove that. (Bullion Bulls Canada)
Brett Favre is back! Well, at least he’s not back as a quarterback. He’s taken up a career as a broadcaster. (Awful Announcing)
