Mass Effect 3: A Very Early Preview

This weekend at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards, we were treated to the first proper trailer for Mass Effect 3. The first two editions of the Mass Effect franchise have been critically acclaimed, award-winning games so the expectations are massive for the (supposedly) final installment in Commander Sheppard’s battle against the Reapers. Let’s piece together all the clues that have been dropped or accidentally leaked so far. Continue reading

Tomorrow night is Spike TV’s annual Video Game Awards show. Since 2003, Spike has given the public the ability to vote for top their video games of the year. While it is often the target of criticism as it’s a glorified popularity contest, it is the starting point of the video game awards season. So let’s take a look at this year’s VGA nominees and take a stab at who should win the awards and who will win the awards. Continue reading

Top Five James Bond Video Game Theme Songs

The recent release of the new GoldenEye 007 game by Activision also brought us a new take on the GoldenEye theme originally sung by Tina Turner. For the game, it’s sung by Nicole Scherzinger. But the new GoldenEye game isn’t the only Bond game that got an exclusive theme song. As with every other Bond theme, there’s debate as to which theme is the best. So here’s our rankings of the best James Bond video game themes. Continue reading

BioShock Infinite Gameplay Preview Released

The folks over at Irrational Games have released the first gameplay footage of their upcoming game BioShock Infinite. Fans of the first two games (like myself) will notice a few not so subtle differences between IG’s original BioShock and their second effort in the series (2K did BioShock 2 internally). But let’s take a look at this early footage and dissect it after the jump. Continue reading

Uncharted: Eye of Indra (The Motion Comic)

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned before that I’m a huge fan of the Uncharted video game series. The other day, I was looking up a target for a release date of the already announced Uncharted 3 when I came across this. (By the way, I’ve only been able to find out that it’s starting production sometime this year but I’d imagine that a 2011 release date is likely.) In conjunction with the release of Uncharted 2, developer Naughty Dog released a series of motion comics that were a prequel to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune to fill in some back story to the first game.

So here’s some of Nathan Drake’s adventures just before the events of the first Uncharted game in Uncharted: Eye of Indra. Continue reading

When you think of a Canadian video game developer, you immediately think of Ubisoft or EA Sports Vancouver. Well, Quebec City based developer Frima Studio wants to add itself to the discussion. Video Game Review: Green Day: Rock Band

The fifth installment in the Rock Band series and second in the band-focused editions of the game feels like the series is getting back to its roots. After producing a family oriented game in Lego Rock Band and one about one of the greatest bands of all-time in The Beatles: Rock Band, Harmonix is going back to rock music with Green Day: Rock Band. Continue reading

Video Game Review: Fight Night Round 4

fight-night-round-4-ps3-coverFight Night Round 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Some of the hype has to do with the fact that the graphics looks great. Some of it has to do with the fact that FNR3 was a great game in its own right. But I think that cover really put it over the top. The hype machine was running on all cylinders with the release of this game. Does this game live up to the hype and become a legend like some of the fighters in the game? Find out after the jump. Video Game Review: NCAA Football 10

ncaa-football-10-ps3-coverNCAA Football 10 is the 13th iteration of the critically acclaimed college football video game. This year’s edition is the third on the PS3 which I’m reviewing it on. The challenge with sports games like this is that, since it comes out every year, a lot of work has to go into it to keep it fresh. It’s easy to just sit back and only update the rosters and playbooks every season. Instead, EA Sports has gone big with this edition with two big new features and a major overhaul of another game mode. So do the changes make NCAA 10 the first must play college football game on PS3 or is it just another step in the right direction? Find out after the jump. Continue reading
