Five Worst James Bond Themes

Some sixteen months ago, I posted my list of the top ten James Bond movie theme songs. Inevitably, I had to do the opposite list with the worst themes. But instead of covering the ten worst songs, I’ve cut it down to five. This way, we’ll just hear the worst of the worst. Trust me, over the 38 years of the James Bond movie franchise, we’ve had some real humdingers of horrible songs to lead us into a Bond adventure. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Not As Crazy As You Think

It’s Saturday night, so it’s time for the obligatory ELO post. Kicking off this entry is Emma Roberts who is starring in the dramedy It’s Kind of a Funny Story alongside Keir Gilchrist and Hangover funnyman Zach Galifianakis.

After the jump the title for Transformers 3 revealed, a special deleted scene from Let Me In, first look at The Thing, Supernatural animated, Stan Lee is doing business with the NHL, McFly’s new video and find out how you can smell like a monster. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Let’s Be Facebook Friends!

It’s that time of the week for another installment of the Entertainment Link-Off. Two highly anticipated movies are released this weekend at the theatres, so it would be a good opportunity for a quasi-movie marathon don’t you think? First up is the vampire flick Let Me In. Then there’s also the unofficial Facebook movie The Social Network starring Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The movie also features Rooney Mara playing Zuckerberg’s ex-girlfriend during his days at Harvard.

While we’re on the topic of Facebook. Don’t forget to like us on our Lowdown Facebook page!

After the jump, an awesome music recommendation, a few articles on The Social Network, Tron Legacy reshoots aren’t exactly a bad thing, alien-related movies galore and there’s a Scott Pilgrim related connection at Wong Fu Productions. Continue reading

Casting The Mighty Ducks with NHL Stars

An idea that’s floated around Lowdown HQ for the last couple of years is which NHL players are most like players from the Mighty Ducks movie franchise. In my opinion, the original movie, The Mighty Ducks, is the greatest hockey movie ever made so this comparison has to do the franchise justice. That’s why this post has taken us an obscenely long near two years of debate over this one to get the perfect roster of NHL players who are most like players on The Mighty Ducks. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Greendale Rocks!

There aren’t any films opening this weekend that cracked the fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes this weekend. Oliver Stone’s follow-up to Wall Street is a quasi-bust, Zack Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians isn’t getting rave reviews despite funny visuals and You Again starring Kristen Bell is getting drubbed by critics. Perhaps it’s best that we all just stick with TV now that the fall season is in full session.

After the jump, George Lucas is sitting on a pile of cash because of us, a few tidbits on Community, Scott Pilgrim DVD release date, Abigail Breslin has some vocal chops and the alternate opening sequence to Iron Man 2! Continue reading

BioShock Infinite Gameplay Preview Released

The folks over at Irrational Games have released the first gameplay footage of their upcoming game BioShock Infinite. Fans of the first two games (like myself) will notice a few not so subtle differences between IG’s original BioShock and their second effort in the series (2K did BioShock 2 internally). But let’s take a look at this early footage and dissect it after the jump. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Dancing Around the Truth

Welcome to another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Kicking off this entry is Emma Stone, who plays the lead character Olive Penderghast in the new film Easy A. The comedy centres around a high school girl who fake lost her virginity. Given it is a high school, of course chaos will ensue. The film is actually a hit among the critics, so could it be a contender at this weekend’s box office? I certainly hope so.

After the jump, some awesome Voltron pics, The Social Network interactive trailer, the return of Johnny English, Kate Walsh channels her inner Gaga, Community takes on Modern Family (sort of) and an awesome Community remix. Continue reading

Mick Foley: A Modern Day Evel Knievel?

A thought occurred to me the other day: Throughout his wrestling career, Mick Foley has been better known for his wild stunts than his technical wrestling skills. His reputation and influence among the fans has been built on spilling blood on six continents and breaking multiple bones. His popularity has come largely on the strength of the high impact smashes and crashes than your standard wrestling matches. There is one legend that has built a reputation in the same way as Foley but wasn’t a professional wrestler. That man was Evel Knievel. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Looks Do Kill

The fall TV season has just begun as the CW kicked off its schedule earlier this week with the launch of the new shows Hellcats and Nikita. The former is more of a bland Bring It On knock-off and the latter is a rehash of the 1990 French film and the 1997 TV series. That being said, Nikita was surprisingly entertaining. It might not have brought anything new to the table, but the action sequences are superb and the storyline isn’t bad at all. I suppose it also helps that it stars the amazingly hot Maggie Q.

After the jump Bruce Campbell wants to make an all-star horror movie, a look at ‘jumping the shark’, NBC has given up on Chuck, At the Movies return, someone takes a watermelon to the face, a hot new Tron Legacy banner, Chris Klein’s ridiculously bad acting, having a mistress is a bad idea and Joseph Gordon-Levitt feels like having a bad romance. Around The Death Star Conference Table

In the big meeting in the Death Star’s board room, we only hear from four people even though there were nine people in on the meeting (and two security guards). So what were those other Imperial higher ups thinking about while listening to everyone else drone on about stolen plans, hidden bases and superior firepower? I hypothesize after the jump. Continue reading
