Man Lab Link-Off: Man Law

It’s time for the second Man Lab linkdump. God help us if this thing actually catches on. Anyway, let’s start with Heather Morris who is the other blonde from Glee.

Let’s kick off this linkdump with some general life advice. Here are 34 rules everyone should live by. (Midwest Sports Fans)

After the jump, a woman to English dictionary, how to smoke cigars and the best pickup line in Canada. Continue reading

Man Lab: The Male Social Ladder (Infographic)

For the second installment of our Man Lab series, I found this infographic of the male social ladder. Given how highly competitive men are, I’m sure everyone will want to check out how they stack up on the social ladder. Of course, where you rank now is just a starting point. We opened up our Man Lab to you improve your social ranking.

Man Lab Link-Off: The Debut

In order to further our ever expanding agenda to help men, we’re introducing a linkdump to our Man Lab series. In the MLLO, we’re going to link to stories that will give men advice they need. And let’s start our first Man Lab linkdump with Lily Aldridge who definitely wouldn’t cause any cold feet dressed like that.

Part of the job of the Man Lab is to help you figure out women. So that’s why we dug up this handy Woman to English dictionary. (Match)

After the jump, what pets mean, expert relationship advice and how men erase CDs. Continue reading

Man Lab: Arcade Fire 101

I’m a huge fan of the Canadian band Arcade Fire. I’ve been one since roughly 2007 but a lot of folks are only now discovering them thanks to that Grammy win (and subsequent Twitter love from Kanye). Since then, everyone has jumped on the bandwagon. That includes women. I’ve had this discussion once or twice before. Music is a good icebreaker with women and a good music recommendation that’s a bit off mainstream will make you easy to remember. And a strong music opinion will spark a memory of you the next time they hear a song by that band.

So for our first post in a hopefully ongoing series of advice columns for the single man, I help you talk about the Arcade Fire so you sound like you know what you’re talking about and without sounding like you’ve never heard any of their albums from start to finish. Continue reading

Late Night Link-Off: All Good Things

Welcome to the last set of late night links. I’m retiring them after tonight. So to close out this short-lived linkdump series, here’s Candice Swanepoel.

Sadly, Candice isn’t on Twitter. However, there are plenty of other good looking women for you to follow. (Pop Crunch)

After the jump, the meaning of your fantasy woman, important advice for guys and what makes the British newspaper industry great. Continue reading

Lowdown Extra: February 2, 2010

The Lowdown radio show was supposed to air tonight but was pre-empted for reasons beyond our control. So what was originally supposed to be the Valentine’s and USC Election special was pulled from the radio lineup and made a Lowdown Extra exclusive podcast. Tonight’s show starts with Steve and his special guest co-host exploring dating advice in popular music. They also look at different words that mean pretty. Though that is sidetracked with a series of very random discussions that range from profanities that can be used on the radio to crazy stories. The news is the old standby classic of stories of love gone wrong. Entertainment features Young Money winning the coveted Worst of Music prize. And it’s a double dip on It Came From YouTube. It starts with a rock mashup of Pants on the Ground followed by Conan O’Brien and company covering the hit Free Bird. And yes, we play the whole damn thing. After the break, it’s hockey talk with an actual hockey player. It’s a look at violence in the game. There’s a lot of great insight on how suspensions are actually doled out by leagues. All this and more is covered on this web-exclusive Lowdown Extra that runs for over an hour-and-a-half. It’s 94 minutes more of entertainment than you would have had if we weren’t so hell-bent on revolutionizing talk radio.
