Sunday Link-Off: Definitely Not Hipster

I think Jackie had the wrong piece of eye candy from Piranha 3D yesterday. Clearly, he should have gone with Kelly Brook. And that title is a carry forward of the theme of our latest Lowdown BlogCast taping.

Fantasy football drafts are upcoming. Here’s a handy guide for helping you come up with a good team name. (Kissing Suzy Kolber)

One of the great sports debates is who is the greatest announcer of all time. Well, there’s finally a list of the greatest announcers in every sports. (Fang’s Bites) If there was a list for the OUA, clearly I’d top it as the only man to call three OUA championship games in a season.

Fans of Pardon the Interruption and people that watch Around the Horn (because I don’t think anyone actually likes that show) know the name Tony Reali. Well, turns out that he’s a bit of a total douche. (Deuce of Davenport)

After the jump, lots on Gran Turismo 5, fun tech stuff, and how to properly dispose of a Guitar Hero controller. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Summer Leftovers

With all the major summer films out, it’s time for the summer leftovers. Not a single of the new releases this weekend is expected to make a large blip at the box office. However one of the world’s greatest travesties just might happen if Vampires Suck out-grosses Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. So please go see Scott Pilgrim instead of that lame attempt at a Twilight spoof! In fact, it pains me to say it, but go see the actual Twilight film instead of that piece of crap. Anyway, kicking off this Entertainment Link-Off is Jessica Szohr. She’ll be appearing in the gory fish thriller Piranha 3D this weekend. Unfortunately, the movie doesn’t look like it’ll be making that big of a splash.

After the jump, a farewell to At the Movies, a few attempts to convince you to go see Scott Pilgrim, McFly’s new music video, Oscars for Piranha 3D and Joseph Gordon-Levitt feels like a natural woman. Continue reading

The Best of My High Night

Potsmokers have their own unofficial holiday on April 20th. So it makes sense that they would have their own version of F My Life called My High Night. That why it’s the fifth site in our ongoing look at the best of the interweb. (Apart from The Lowdown Blog, of course.) The stories on this site are reminiscent of F My Life and Texts from Last Night except everyone on this site is high. Kinda like the writers of most network television shows. Continue reading

Uncovering Emmanuelle Chriqui

I’ve never really understood why folks were so high on Entourage and Emmanuelle Chriqui. Then I saw this photo shoot that HBO did with her to promote the show’s seventh season. Now, I’m not one to promote a television show but I’m more than willing to lend a hand to promote a fellow Canadian. And after seeing this shoot, I can understand how she was named AskMen’s Most Desirable Woman of 2010. So after the jump, we have the photo gallery and a video. Continue reading

NASCAR Announces 2011 Sprint Cup Schedule

NASCAR promised to shake things up with their 2011 schedule. The overhauls might be bigger in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series schedules but there are still a fair number of changes to the 2011 Sprint Cup Schedule. There are date changes, a new race in the Chase, and a track that gets its first Sprint Cup race after trying for 10 years. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Do or Do Not…

This weekend was my annual trip to a NASCAR race so I missed this week’s SLO. I’ve got plenty of links to power through. But first here’s Eva Mendes. She could do better than her previous sex tape.

Here is one of the greatest lists in the history of the galaxy (far, far away). It’s the Top 100 Star Wars characters of all-time (including the Expanded Universe). (IGN)

Top Gear: USA is coming soon to the History Channel. Hopefully, we’ll get it in Canada too. Anyway, for TG fans, here’s a preview of the upcoming season. (Jalopnik)

The English Premier League season just got underway this past weekend. Looking for a team to cheer for? Here’s a list comparing EPL teams to North American sports teams. (FOX Sports)

After the jump, 20 Cent’s revenge, more on Jenny the Dry Erase Board Girl, and 3D’s biggest victory so far. Continue reading

2010 CarFax 400 Wrapup

Twice a year, the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race through the Irish Hills of Michigan at the Michigan International Speedway. Denny Hamlin won the blisteringly fast June race at MIS that saw 400 miles run in just over two-and-a-half hours. On Sunday, 43 drivers took to their cars under the hot southern Michigan sun to battle for supremacy in the heartland of America’s auto industry. Continue reading

2010 CarFax 250 Wrapup

For only the second time, the stars of the NASCAR Nationwide Series strapped into the Nationwide Series next generation car. They were first seen in Daytona for the Fourth of July weekend night race won by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Junior wouldn’t be running at the Michigan International Speedway. That left the door wide open for someone else to take their first win in the new car. This win would be all the more important because of the bragging rights that come from winning in the backyard of the American automotive industry. Continue reading

Movie Review: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World might not be able to light up the box office in the present, but in 10-15 years from now, this film would have established itself as a cult hit or better yet, it will solidify its title as the defining movie of the Nintendo generation. Edgar Wright has taken the tale of Scott Pilgrim and created one of the most exhilarating, flashy, heartfelt, honest, original mainstream films out there. We may only be eight months into 2010, but this film has already established itself as one of the best of the year. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Hit Love Where It Hurts

Steve will be away this weekend so the Sunday Link-Off will be taking a break. Instead, be on a lookout for the review of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World tomorrow night! Speaking of Scott Pilgrim, the comic book-turned-live action feature is out this week. If you’re from Toronto, show some T-dot love and go see this movie. Kicking off this week’s Entertainment Link-Off is Ellen Wong, who has a role as one of Scott’s many love interests, Knives Chau.

After the jump, plenty more Scott Pilgrim related links, a few nifty features of The Other Guys and Friday Night Lights sets a return date. Continue reading
