Sunday Link-Off: The Great Debate

karen-gillan-afifest15-01Sometimes, it’s best not to overdo things because it doesn’t mean as much any more. For example, take the Republican primaries. They have debates so often that they’re about as newsworthy as a cat up a tree. Then you have the Democrats who just had their second or third debate. If the GOP’s debates weren’t car crash TV, I doubt anyone would care at this point.

Anyway, it’s Sunday which means it’s time for us to do the links. Let’s change things up and kick things off with Karen Gillan.

Before anyone starts talking about terrorist attacks, you should note that sometimes intelligence works. For example, the CIA knew for months about a major attack coming on American soil. The reports were ignored and 9/11 happened. That was before everyone’s privacy was forfeit so we could be secure. (Politico)

Amber-Heard-Marie-Claire-Dec2015Spectre is finally out in Australia but reviews haven’t been as flattering as the previous installment. That being said, it’s probably still worth checking out in cinemas. Anyway it’s Saturday once again, so it’s time for the ELO. Didn’t really know how to kick off this entry but then I came across Amber Heard’s latest shoot with Marie Claire, and it certainly caught my attention.

Wednesday Link-Off: You Require More Minerals

salma-hayek-lacma15-01So this week is kind of big in gaming. Yesterday saw the release of Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider and StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void. I’m spending my time with SC2 and I’m hoping to do a two-part review starting with the campaign in a couple of weeks followed by a look at the multiplayer modes. But there looks to be a lot of campaign to sink my teeth into.

Anyway, it’s Wednesday which means that it’s time for the links. Let’s kick this off with Salma Hayek.

Sunday Link-Off: Power of Politics

stana-katic-ema15-03While Donald Trump was off doing SNL, Ben Carson was taking command of the GOP Presidential polls. That’s a pretty frightening thought to many people. But there are a lot of scary things in this Sunday’s set of links.

So let’s not waste any more time and get to your weekend-ending linkdump. Let’s kick off with Stana Katic. Have you watched Castle lately? I haven’t but it might get interesting again eventually.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is not a fan of Ben Carson. In fact, he goes as far to say that Carson is bad for African-Americans. (Time)

Entertainment Link-Off: Get Peanutized!

It’s also collecting fairly positive reviews, so it might be worth taking a trip down memory lane and channel your inner kid again. The other hotly anticipated release Spectre is garnering mixed results. Perhaps Skyfall just set the bar a little too high for the James Bond franchise. Anyway, let’s start off the ELO with Daisy Ridley, star of the upcoming Star Wars flick. She looks quite elegant in the latest shoot for The Hollywood Reporter. I can definitely see why the new trilogy would focus on her.

Wednesday Link-Off: Insane in the Brain

allison-williams-harpersbazaar15-01Happy Wednesday, interwebs. I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m having one of those weeks were happiness is but a fleeting moment. Just when I think I can be content, BAM, something hits me and tries to convince me otherwise. Monday started terribly and snowballed. Tuesday went well until the end when one unhappy interaction put a pall on my afternoon and evening. Let’s see how today goes though I hope yours is better than my week.

Anyway, enough deep-rooted self-loathing. We’re here on Wednesdays to do the links. Let’s kick things off with Allison Williams.

Sunday Link-Off: My Time is Now

That’s the one thing about time changes that I hate. I’m trying to watch F1 this afternoon but is it on at 2:00 PM EDT or 2:00 PM EST when it’s scheduled for 1:00 PM local time. And there’s StarCraft to be watched this afternoon too but at least I think that’s scheduled in Pacific Time. Time changes make sense but you always feel like no one else knows what they’re doing.

Anyway, it’s Sunday so it’s time for us to do the links. Since last night was Halloween, it’s only appropriate to kick off with Jessica Lowndes as what I would assume is Harley Quinn.

Entertainment Link-Off: Fright Night

halston sage w magIt’s Halloween! Go out and put on your favourite costume and go Trick or Treatin’! Anyway, it is also a Saturday, so it’s time for another edition of the ELO! Fittingly enough, in cinemas this weekend is a b-horror flick to check out called Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. Reviews have been less than flattering but it does have Halston Sage in it! Good excuse to go see it.

After the jump, Star Wars is not yet approved in China, Guillermo del Toro is not giving up on Pacific Rim 2, human characters will always be interfering with future Transformers flicks, the emotions from Inside Out react to Star Wars and allow Stephen Colbert to predict what will happen in the galaxy far far away. Wednesday Link-Off: The Greater Good

After all, it’s nice that someone will chip in some help but that doesn’t mean they are actually contributing to the cause even if they should drop the act. Sorry, I was really tired when I wrote this but it does make some sense.

Sunday Link-Off: Ready

sarah-silverman-ismileback15-03I’m not going to sit here all giddy but I was quite happy with the election results from Monday. Sure, I think I would have actually preferred a minority but I won’t complain about Canadian citizens resoundingly rejecting the status quo and telling the NDP that skewing hard right to pickup Liberal and Conservative voters isn’t the way to win.

Anyway, it’s Sunday which means it’s time for us to do the links. Let’s kick things off with Sarah Silverman.

We’re so used to negative campaigns in politics. It was nothing short of amazing that Justin Trudeau’s positive campaign vaulted him from third place and somebody derided as a joke candidate to a majority and 24 Sussex Drive. (MacLean’s)
