Sunday Link-Off: Geeked

Because I link to a podcast with her in this edition of the SLO, here’s Olivia Munn. Jackie tells me I’m obligated to mention that she’s in Iron Man 2.

I have to lead with this. The biggest news of the last month (not just week) is that copyright claims are being fired off to YouTube and ending our fun with the Hitler “Downfall” parodies. It’s a sad day for humour. (Mashable)

NBA and NHL fans got some bad news this week. The NFL draft had more viewers than either league’s playoffs. The solution for the NHL is easy, though. (Sparty & Friends)

Though part of the NHL’s problem might be player image. It’s not that they’re toothless thugs. It’s that they’re hipsters. (Watch The Gap)

Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Double The OT, Double The Fun

For the first time in the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs, we had a game go to double overtime. While that may say something about parody in the NHL, the fact that we added two more teams to the list of squads that are one loss from elimination doesn’t. Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Deja Vu

Another exciting night of hockey playoffs. A few teams are pulling away and are closing in on clinching the series while others are tied up once again. At the end of the night, a few things felt all too familiar. Whether it was the score of the game or the player that saved the day or a situation that resembles a matchup that took place back in 2000, it certainly brought up some good hockey memories no matter when it took place. Especially the part where people are upset that he would bash a reporter for using an anonymous source when he’s pulled the same trick before. Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: The Pendulum Swings Back and Forth

Another night of close hockey games as two required overtime to determine the winner and none of the games had a goal differential greater than 2. It was a night of solid goaltending from two of the winners. Most of the teams that lost their last game managed to claw back yesterday night.
