Sunday Link-Off: Geeked

Because I link to a podcast with her in this edition of the SLO, here’s Olivia Munn. Jackie tells me I’m obligated to mention that she’s in Iron Man 2.

I have to lead with this. The biggest news of the last month (not just week) is that copyright claims are being fired off to YouTube and ending our fun with the Hitler “Downfall” parodies. It’s a sad day for humour. (Mashable)

NBA and NHL fans got some bad news this week. The NFL draft had more viewers than either league’s playoffs. The solution for the NHL is easy, though. (Sparty & Friends)

Though part of the NHL’s problem might be player image. It’s not that they’re toothless thugs. It’s that they’re hipsters. (Watch The Gap)

After the jump, the Sarah Silverman disaster, Leonard Nimoy beams back to Vulcan, and rain delay awesomeness. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Total Eclipse of the Heart

Kicking off this entry is something from Jessica Alba’s latest photoshoot for Total Film. I haven’t heard much about her lately, but she’ll be appearing in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete which is slated to hit theatres on September 3rd!

After the jump Hitler parody videos are in danger, the return of Wikus van der Merwe and William Shatner does a duet with Taiwan sensation Lin Yu Chun! Continue reading

Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Taking Charge or Staying Alive

There was 2 themes going on last night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Take charge or stay alive. Two teams won their games to break the tie in the series while two others that were on the brink of elimination managed to pull of victories to stay in the playoff race. Continue reading

The Best of Texts From Last Night (Part 2)

A while back, we looked at some of the greatest hits of TextsFromLastNight.com. Well, the fun and partying never ends so neither do the stories. So in what’s quickly becoming a regular feature on the blog, here are more quick stories about drugs, alcohol, debauchery and sometimes all of the above. Continue reading

Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Shutouts Galore

If you thought double the OT was double the fun, last night featured a game that went into triple overtime! Could you say ‘triple the OT, triple the fun’? Meanwhile 3 goalies went on a hot streak stopping all pucks that they encountered during the game. Another team makes an early exit from the playoffs and it might not be the one you were expecting. Continue reading

Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Double The OT, Double The Fun

For the first time in the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs, we had a game go to double overtime. While that may say something about parody in the NHL, the fact that we added two more teams to the list of squads that are one loss from elimination doesn’t. The third of last night’s series was levelled at two with an unexpected offensive explosion. Continue reading

Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Deja Vu

Another exciting night of hockey playoffs. A few teams are pulling away and are closing in on clinching the series while others are tied up once again. At the end of the night, a few things felt all too familiar. Whether it was the score of the game or the player that saved the day or a situation that resembles a matchup that took place back in 2000, it certainly brought up some good hockey memories no matter when it took place. Wednesday Link-Off: Nobody Expects The Spanish Inquisition

For the return of the WLO, nobody expected me to lead with Hayden Panettiere.

A collection of the 20 greatest Monty Python sketches of all time. It’s definitely not an ex-list. (GNews)

If you thought that KFC’s Double Down was the worst thing in the world that you could eat, you find out that it’s not so bad. Crunch the numbers and its not that bad. (FiveThirtyEight)

Ex-Globe and Mail columnist Bill Houston is a bitter old man. He doesn’t really understand this whole blogging thing. Especially the part where people are upset that he would bash a reporter for using an anonymous source when he’s pulled the same trick before. Things kinda escalated from there with hilarious consequences. (Pension Plan Puppets)

After the jump, Taiwanese CGI bathroom sex, the Ben Roethlisberger timeline, and Jon Miller as Vin Scully. Continue reading

Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: Big Collapse

With the exception of one game which featured a nice goaltender battle, the other two featured goaltenders suffering from monumental collapses. At least this is only game 3 for each team. Sometimes all you need is a wake up call to get back into the series. Continue reading

Hockey (Last) Night In Canada: The Pendulum Swings Back and Forth

Another night of close hockey games as two required overtime to determine the winner and none of the games had a goal differential greater than 2. It was a night of solid goaltending from two of the winners. Most of the teams that lost their last game managed to claw back yesterday night. With all this back and forth, could all the series end up going to game sevens? Continue reading
