Entertainment Link-Off: Total Eclipse of the Heart

Kicking off this entry is something from Jessica Alba’s latest photoshoot for Total Film. I haven’t heard much about her lately, but she’ll be appearing in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete which is slated to hit theatres on September 3rd!

After the jump Hitler parody videos are in danger, the return of Wikus van der Merwe and William Shatner does a duet with Taiwan sensation Lin Yu Chun!

Watch out! Pixar has invaded Canada!!! (CTV)

In other Pixar related news, Monsters Inc. 2 will be hitting the screens in 2012! In fact, expect 2 Pixar films to be released in 2012!!! So what does that mean for 2013? (Latino Review)

Uh oh! Constantin Films is on a mission to take down the Hitler parody videos. I’m not sure why they’re doing that since it’s doing amazing viral marketing for the film Downfall, which is where the clip is taken from. In fact, even the director of the movie digs it. Clearly those execs are up to no good again. Thanks for ruining the fun for everyone else. (Slashfilm)

In celebration of the release of the Avatar DVD on Earth Day, James Cameron spoke about the theatrical re-release of Avatar this August and he also mentions that the sequel will take place in the oceans of Pandora. (LA Times)

While Kick-Ass topped the opening weekend box office, the numbers didn’t quite live up to expectations. I was expecting a bigger weekend myself since I thought the positive word of mouth would get out there. On the bright side, it’s not an entire flop as Mark Millar points out. (MTV) If you haven’t seen it, go check it out. It’s a fun movie.

Iron Man 2 is hitting theatres very soon and it’s the perfect time to start checking out clips from the highly anticipated sequel. In this clip, Leslie Bibb reprises her role as Christine Everhart from the original film. You’ll like the use of the word ‘spread’ in this video. (MSN)

There are plenty of individuals who are a little skeptic about Joss Whedon directing The Avengers because of his ‘Whedon-isms’. Take a look at this hilarious comic that depicts how he encounters creative differences with those in the big suits. (Hijinks Ensue)

With superhero films you normally want to go big, but what happens when you run out of the big guns? After the release of The Avengers, Marvel can’t go bigger unless it makes The Avengers 2. The brain-trust at Marvel are now exploring the smaller characters with smaller budgets. You think Edgar Wright is still up for Ant Man? (CHUD)

Don’t expect Leonard Nimoy to appear as Spock in the upcoming Star Trek sequel. In fact, his latest appearance on Fringe might be the last time you’ll see him in an acting gig! (The Toronto Sun)

I’ve been looking forward to the film adaptation of World War Z but it’s been sitting in development for a long time. Now it seems like Paramount has taken another step forward and the film just might get made! (Fear Net)

As if Sandra Bullock needs any more drama in her life, it looks like she won’t be able to keep the Razzie award she picked up earlier in the year. (E! Online)

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are teaming up for another comedy series! With The Office and Extras under their belt, I have high expectations for this one. (Guardian)

Something to warm the hearts of all Community fans out there. How about some funny online webisodes to check out? (Entertainment Weekly)

More news that Friday Night Lights is really on its last legs. Kyle Chandler has been tapped to star in the dinosaur-themed series Terra Nova. (Entertainment Weekly) I suppose he really did miss his role in King Kong huh?

Okay, so the possible sequel to District 9 won’t be coming anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean its main character Wikus van der Merwe (played by Shalto Copley) wouldn’t be back. Check out this Funny or Die video (directed and edited by Copley himself) as Wikus umm… stalks Charlize Theron.

This week on ELO’s edition of It Came From Youtube, it’s the amazing duet between Lin Yu Chun and William Shatner. The two paired up for the duet of Total Eclipse of the Heart on Lopez Tonight. Well it’s more like the “Taiwan Susan Boyle” belts out the tune while Shatner does his trademark ‘spoken word singing’. Perhaps Steve should send his CDs to Mr. Shatner in a request to collaborate with him. I’m sure those two would sound great together.
