Entertainment Link-Off: Love Thy Neighbour

halston sageThis weekend marks the release of Neighbours starring Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne and Zac Efron. As I mentioned before, I got a chance to catch it last week and it is hilarious! As of right now, it looks like the raunchy comedy is going to dethrone Spider-Man from the top stop at the box office. Sure there are plenty of laughs in the movie, but there is also some good eye candy courtesy of Halston Sage.

After the jump, Hugh Jackman might do X-Men: Apocalypse and the next Wolverine movie back-to-back, there are 7 authors that took longer to write their books compared to George R.R. Martin, Community got canned by NBC, Power Rangers might be making a comeback, breaking down why people watch The Big Bang Theory and listen to Kina Grannis’ Elements in its entirety! Wednesday Link-Off: They Tried to Make Me Go to Rehab

camille-rowe-victoriassecret14-71Hi folks. I’m back after a couple of days off to hit you with the links. I should probably have Jackie do more link-offs since you guys actually like what he’s selling but you’re stuck with me today instead.

In today’s linkdump, we have more on Rob Ford, a look at the situation in Russia and Ukraine and Rand Paul’s push for the presidency. First, we start it all off with Camille Rowe.

Rob Ford might be off to rehab but it doesn’t look like it’s in Chicago. Reportedly, he didn’t attempt to enter the US. (The Globe and Mail) Also, shame, Globe & Mail. A headline that reads “Rob Ford Turned Back From United States” reads like he was denied entry. You should know better than to try tabloid/clickbait headlines.

The latest reports put Ford at a rehab facility in Guelph. (Canoe)

And the media’s treatment of Rob Ford might be driving voters who the media also look down on to Ford. It’s not a case of who is best for Toronto but a case of people sticking together to spite the media. (Medium)

Sunday Link-Off: Major Crackdown!

rose byrne 2It’s Jackie here filling in for Steve this Sunday. Well he left some links behind and I was just left with the simple task of throwing in some eye candy, an intro and a few videos for your viewing pleasure. So in Australia, there was a special advance screening weekend of Neighbours starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. I gotta say, that film is hilarious! You also get to see Rose Byrne and her comedic chops at work once again! So let’s kick it all off with her.

After the jump, Rob Ford is at it again, take a look at what a typical WWE script would look like, Taco Bell isn’t serving you 100% beef, Boston fails to stay classy after the game one loss and listen to Andrew Garfield sing a familiar tune. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Web of Lies

felicity jones spiderman 2 premiereFor those of you in North America, you finally get a chance to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2!!! Sure, all the attention is on leading lady Emma Stone, but don’t forget British actress Felicity Jones has a small part as Felicia Hardy. Expect her to have a slightly bigger role in the next film.

After the jump, some more Spidey news, Godzilla is apparently too fat, Almost Human got canned by FOX, a look into the new cast of Star Wars, meet Peter Parkour, and watch how The Lego Movie should have ended. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: The Whole World in His Hands

lake-bell-esquire14-01Another week, another set of links. Normally, this is the day I would remind Canadians to file their taxes but they until May 5th to file their taxes because Revenue Canada fell victim to the Heartbleed Bug. And even with that extra five days, I still have relatives who aren’t going to file on time. Figures.

Anyway, it’s Wednesday which means that it’s time for the links. Let’s kick things off with Lake Bell.

The so-called Fair Elections Act might have gone through some revisions but it could still use some work. (The Globe and Mail)

You’d think that the death of Net Neutrality would be a big deal. Naturally, it was ignored by the big US news shows. (Media Matters)

Donald Sterling’s lifetime ban from the NBA is surprising because it’s a much more stern move from new Commissioner Adam Silver than his predecessor would ever make. (Yahoo Sports)

Sunday Link-Off: I Thought This Was Spring

tsanna-latouche-nordstrom14-05With it being the end of April, I thought that the weather would be warming up and I could start to wear short-sleeved shirts. However, I woke up yesterday and had to grab my winter coat and boots and brush snow off my car. So much for having a late spring. Any spring would be lovely. I think that we’re gearing up for two seasons this year: Winter and July.

Anyway, to celebrate a lovely Canadian winter, let’s lead off with a lovely Canadian model. Here’s Tsanna LaTouche.

Even with the changes proposed to the so-called “Fair” Elections Act, a number of serious concerns remain. Well, I suppose it could make elections fair for a certain party trying to get it into law… (The Globe and Mail)

The story of the Keystone XL pipeline is really a tale of two countries. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has championed it but Barack Obama has been working against him which I certainly won’t complain about. (Bloomberg)

While his international environmental record isn’t too bad, domestically, things aren’t too good for Barack Obama. A radioactive oil waste site was found in North Dakota. Isn’t that lovely? (Al Jazeera America)

Entertainment Link-Off: Get Even

kate uptonNo big blockbuster releases this weekend, but for those of you in North America, you can catch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 next week! Out this weekend is the film The Other Woman, which stars plenty of eye candy including Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton. Yeah, that sounds like a good enough reason for any guy to see this in theatres. Let’s start off the ELO with Kate Upton.

After the jump, a whole bunch of X-Men related links, there’s a new title for The Hobbit, Community tackles movie posters and watch how the Golden Globe wins have affected the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Continue reading

Wednesday Link-Off: Cold Hard Data

alyssah-ali-bloomingdales14-06I may have mentioned it before but the hardest part about these linkdumps is writing the intro. I’m never entirely sure what to say. Do I comment about the links to follow? Do I talk about the goings on of the last week? Do I talk about my personal life? I’m never quite sure. I do know that for the second straight Tuesday, snow was falling outside my window as I wrote this post. It’s just lovely April weather.

Anyway, let’s start off today’s set of links with Canadian model Alyssah Ali.

Why are things in Ukraine not getting any better? Because the Russians are trying to destabilize things to take control of the country while blaming the Ukrainian government and its allies for causing the trouble that Russia themselves are causing. (New York Times)

Don’t listen to the anti-vaccine whack-jobs. Vaccines save lives. (Mother Jones)

Have you ever wanted an inside look into the live of the paparazzi? Okay, probably not. But I still found this profile of one Hollywood pap interesting. (Rolling Stone)

Sunday Link-Off: Wonderful Easter Time

christina-hendricks-rhapsody14-01It’s Easter Sunday but that doesn’t mean that we’re taking the day off. Granted, because the rest of the internet has been on holiday since Thursday, the links are a bit thin but I’ve still found the best posts from around the interweb over the last half-week.

Since there’s another new episode of Mad Men today, I thought that I’d start this post with Christina Hendricks. Not only does United Airlines have poor customer service but their magazine did an unforgivable crime of photoshopping Christina almost beyond recognition.

The pro-Russian forces in eastern Ukraine are getting very worrying. They’re forcing Jewish residents to register with them. This won’t end well. (USA Today)

Canadians who know nothing about it think that the Fair Elections Act lives up to its name. Maybe it’s best that most of the electorate doesn’t vote when they’re so ill informed. (The Globe and Mail)

Liam Neeson still wants horsedrawn carriages in Central Park. I wouldn’t argue with him. He will find you and he will kill you. (New York Times)

Entertainment Link-Off: Tangled Up!

emma stoneIn theatres this weekend, you can catch Johnny Depp in his out of body experience in Transcendence. If you are in Australia however you can catch The Amazing Spider-Man 2!!! HA! First dibs on a blockbuster compared to the folks in North America. I gotta say, they managed to balance multiple villains this time much better than Sam Raimi’s Spidey 3. Anyway, let’s kick it off with the actress who portrays Spider-Man’s main love interest, Emma Stone.

After the jump, a look at the chance of Spider-Man appearing in an Avengers movie, Tron 3 is still in the works, some X-Men tidbits, an alternate ending to Frozen that would have easily fit into the Marvel Universe and Emma Stone displays her signature talent.
