The Top Ten James Bond Theme Songs (Updated For Skyfall)

Some three years ago, I put together a list of the ten best James Bond movie theme songs. With the release of Skyfall next week and a very good theme song by Adele, people have been talking about what the best Bond themes are and where Skyfall would land on that list. So here’s our officially unofficial list of the best Bond themes of all-time. Entertainment Link-Off: Everything is Connected

In theatres this weekend, there’s the possibly incomprehensible visual show Cloud Atlas. There’s also the sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. None of the two films feature anything noteworthy, so let’s just kick off the ELO with Amber Heard.

After the jump, some Die Hard for you, Iron Man hits rock bottom, some Bond related news, the return of Evil Dead and check out an honest trailer for Paranormal Activity. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Gnesa – Wilder

I felt like that classic Fry meme after watching this week’s Worst of Music winner’s video. I’m not sure if we’re being trolled or this is a legitimate attempt to make a music video. Normally, it’s pretty obvious if something is a parody or not. In this case, I have no idea what is going on. This week’s WoM winner is by a singer named Gnesa with her first song called Wilder. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Cross the Line

If you’re looking forward to seeing a new movie this weekend, you might want to skip the line and watch something older. This weekend’s two big releases, Alex Cross and Paranormal Activity 4, have a combined Tomatometer score of 41%. That’s adding them gets them to 41% for an average score of 20.5%. Rather than promote those train wrecks, here’s Alison Brie who is in Community which is our favourite sitcome at Lowdown HQ.

After the jump, some Bond, James Bond movie info, the latest on Transformers 4, and some news about the delayed premiere of season four of Community. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: TKO

Danger, Will Robinson! I’ve drawn in to cover the entertainment and pop culture beat for Jackie. This actually seems like an interesting weekend for films with three big new releases. Ben Affleck’s Argo is about a recently declassified CIA operation but I can’t see anyone but the critics loving it. Seven Psychopaths would be my choice for the weekend because you can never get too much Walken and Harrelson. Unfortunately, the top new film at the box office will likely be Here Comes The Boom starring Kevin James. I doubt it’ll be two hours of Kevin James getting his ass kicked so I’m unlikely to find much enjoyment from the film. However, it does also star Salma Hayek. Small victory, I suppose. Entertainment Link-Off: Here We Go Again

Steve can breathe a sigh of relief since I’m back this weekend for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Out this weekend is the sequel Taken 2. Now apparently this film has lost all the buzz and fun from the first film and is nothing but an empty shell of an action film; however it does have Maggie Grace in it. So for eye candy purposes, it might still be worth checking out.

After the jump, another hot actress joins the cast of a female version of The Expendables, some new movie trailers to see, an awesome Iron Man inspired Tron Lightcycle, Looper explained, Adele belts out the new Bond theme and check out some hipster Disney princesses. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: A History…

Welcome, my friends, to the show that never ends. The Entertainment Link-Off rolls on with me in place for Jackie this week. I promise that I’ll keep most of the politics out of it this time. The state of discourse in the US Presidential Election is bad enough that we all need a reprieve from the lies, mud-slinging and general bullshit at some point.

Anyway, it’s been an interesting week in the world of entertainment. Most networks chose to have their premieres this week so that means that primetime TV is only slightly less of a wasteland than it was during the summer. Hollywood is doing a bit better this week. Opening over the weekend are Looper starring JGL and Bruce Willis (yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker), Hotel Transylvania (which thankfully spares us from Adam Sandler in drag), Won’t Back Down and Pitch Perfect which stars blog favourite Anna Kendrick.

After the jump, the history of James Bond movies, the history of Cheers, some news on NBC prime time shows and the worst movie death scene ever. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: I Am the Law!

After a few dull weekends at the theatres, there are finally a few interesting things to check out. The noteworthy release is the latest attempt at adapting Judge Dredd. The film Dredd stars Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby. The latter should be a good enough reason for you to check out the film in theatres anyway.

After the jump, no 28 Months Later anytime soon, some Chinese Na’vi are on their way, Gangnam Style is spreading all over the world and check out some new clips from The Hobbit. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: The Evil Dead

This weekend marks the return of the undead franchise Resident Evil. The films were fun shoot-em-up flicks at best and never really added anything new to the movie world. Anyway, let’s kick off this week’s ELO with a new addition to the cast, Li Bingbing.

After the jump, James Cameron talks Titanic, Prometheus and Jurassic Park, ninjas take out rude moviegoers in London, Barney Stinson sums up How I Met Your Mother in 60 seconds and Gangnam Style continues to spread through the States. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Out of Words

Howdy Lowdown Blogettes! Can I call our readers “blogettes?” Well, we’ll work on it. Anyway, you’ve probably figured out that I’ve drawn in for Jackie who down with a sickness. Not “the sickness.” He’s actually not feeling well so I’m covering for him. Anyway, there are a couple of big releases this weekend including The Words and Bachelorette starring Kirsten Dunst.

After the jump, the end of G4 TV, news on some future movie releases, TV casting updates and more. Continue reading
