In case you didn’t hear, Toronto Police shot a teenager with a knife on an empty streetcar nine times before tasering him. Not even slightly excessive force. (Vice)

Sunday Link-Off: Home Is Where the Crack (Allegedly) Is

deborah-mace-saha13-05It’s Canadian Grand Prix race day so you know what I’ll be watching this afternoon. It’s also Sunday which means that you know what I’ve been up to for this morning. Let’s kick things off with newcomer to the blog, French model Deborah Mace.

You knew it was a matter of time before the press was able to find the exact house where the picture of Rob Ford with a drug dealer. (Toronto Star)

And that house has a bit of reputation for disreputable and illegal activities. (Gawker)

In a funny turn of events, Toronto blogger Toronto Mike actually had this story two months ago thanks to a comment on his blog. If only he knew that the comment was legit. (Toronto Mike)

Wednesday Link-Off: The Actual Story

kim-cloutier-3suisses13-04It’s the middle of the week which means it’s time for some links. We’ve been hard at work prepping some E3 preview coverage that will start next week. Between Formula One, IndyCar and E3, it’ll be a busy week on the blog next week. Anyway, let’s start today’s links with the return of Canadian model Kim Cloutier.

Martha Stewart may have gone to prison for insider trading but nowadays insider trading is almost the rule rather than the exception. (New Yorker)

The Rob Ford crack video “is gone” according to the video’s owner. I wonder who bought it to hide it forever… (Gawker)

Rob Ford says that his crack scandal has been good for the city… Because it’s increased tourism interest. I don’t think that making your city a laughing-stock is a good way to increase tourism. (The Atlantic Wire)

Sunday Link-Off: Searching High… and Low

cintia-dicker-hope13-08I was going to call this the first set of Sunday links of June but then I remembered that I did the links yesterday too. You can’t exactly accuse me of having a long-term memory. Anyway, let’s kick off today’s links with Cintia Dicker who doesn’t get enough love from us on the blog.

Just when you think that the Rob Ford crack video scandal couldn’t get more bizarre, now it turns out that he might know where the video is. (Toronto Star)

Then the press decided to check out the rumoured hiding place of the video. This scandal is nothing if not entertaining. (National Post)

Bill O’Reilly isn’t the worst person in the world despite his affiliation with Fox News. The worst person at Fox News crown is likely to be taken by boss Roger Ailes (Salon)

Wednesday Link-Off: Memorial Day Hangover

martha-hunt-victoriassecret13-02Good news, we actually have links on a Wednesday this week. I thought that was questionable given that it was Memorial Day in America this week but Rob Ford is the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to links. Anyhow, let’s start with American model Martha Hunt.

Is it possible that a Rob Ford staffer was trying to find the infamous crack video? (Toronto Star)

Gawker editor John Cook says that he’s doing what needs to be done to get the Rob Ford story out and the Canadian media is too timid with their stories. I don’t think he’s entirely wrong. (PaidContent)

If you haven’t been keeping up with the whole Rob Ford saga, here’s the whole saga in chart form. (ChartGirl)

Sunday Link-Off: Cracked Up

heather-graham-maxim13-01Okay, I missed the Wednesday set of links because I was busy with all my Xbox One launch coverage and the lack of decent links over the first half of the week. We don’t have that problem today, though. We’ve got a cool collection of links for you today. First, since Hangover 3 is out this weekend, let’s start with Heather Graham.

Rob Ford said on Friday that he doesn’t smoke crack. Well, apparently that won’t be in keeping with his family’s history of drug dealing. (The Globe & Mail)

Prior to Friday’s straight denial, Ford’s office’s position was that the video was faked. The problem is that it would be impossible to fake even with an unlimited budget. (Hazlitt)

We’re still a long ways from another US election but it’s never a bad time to look at some interesting facts about Presidential elections. For example, Democrats weren’t impressed with the continuously changing message of Mitt Romney. He scored an all-time low among Dems in exit polling. (Prez16)

Sunday Link-Off: Cracking News

jessica-stam-oysho13-01Well, the week might have started quietly but it sure as hell ended interestingly. After all, it’s not every day that the mayor of Canada’s biggest city gets caught in a crack scandal. Right, so it’s time for the end of the week links. Let’s start with Canadian model Jessica Stam.

It’s not often that a Canadian news story garners international attention but here we are all talking about Rob Ford smoking crack on camera. He’s the gift that keeps on giving to the Canadian news media. (Gawker and Toronto Star)

With the owners of the video holding it for ransom, crowdfunding efforts are popping up left and right to buy it and post it online. (National Post)
