Hockey Fighting By The Numbers (Infographic)

We’ve all heard the old joke “I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.” Well, this infographic by Hockey Monkey shows that there may be some truth to it. Over 37% of NHL games last season had a fight in it. That’s just one of the many interesting statistics on fighting in hockey that are in the following infographic. Continue reading

Weirdest of Music: William Shatner – Bohemian Rhapsody

Usually, I talk about the week’s worst song in this post. However, I couldn’t bring myself to calling this week’s WoM winner the Worst of Music. So I’ve changed the WoM for this week to the Weirdest of Music. William Shatner is an absolute legend. He’s an award-winning actor and best-selling author. But he’s also made a splash as a spoken word artist. While he’s had utter flops like his covers of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Mr. Tambourine Man, he had also done amazing covers of Rocket Man and Iron Man. However, his latest single is too odd to classify as good or bad. That’s why it’s our first ever weirdest of music. It’s the Shatner version of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Continue reading

Wallpapers of the Week: October 23, 2011

Today we debut something new in our ever-expanding list of offerings. I like changing up my desktop wallpaper on a regular basis. My wallpaper at work is even a slideshow so I have a new wallpaper every thirty minutes to change things up ever so slightly. So to help you change things up for your work week, I’ve scoured Flickr for five wallpapers that are worth adding to your collection for this week. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Biography

Despite the fact that we’re only 8 days away from Halloween, we actually have fewer Halloween links than on Wednesday. That means I can’t use my prepared joke about starting this edition of the SLO with the very unscary Stacy Keibler.

Every Steve Jobs biography that was being written has been expedited. That includes the authorized biography by Walter Isaacson. Naturally, some of the more interesting parts of the book have been leaked. (Gizmodo)

We’re only a month away from the release of the already infamous book about LeBron James’ move to Miami. Here’s the first excerpt which is about Miami Heat fans… Or lack there of. (Esquire)

We have one rule of thumb around here that we almost never break: Whenever we find a good profile of Bill Murray (AKA Cuz), we are obligated to link to it. (The Guardian)

After the jump, an LFL walkout, what we really think of your Facebook status updates and 10 years of PTI. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Laugh at the Face of Danger

Time for the Entertainment Link-Off once again. This weekend at the movies, you can catch the horror flick Paranormal Activity 3. Alternatively, there’s also The Three Musketeers 3D. Better yet, for comedy fans, Rowan Atkinson is back as Johnny English in Johnny English Reborn. I had a chance to see this flick a month back and I have to say, despite the rather predictable plot, the film was good for its physical comedy. Oh it also helps that Rosamund Pike is in the movie too!

After the jump, Hungary has a bizarre way of financing films, David Fincher doesn’t want the world to see Scarlett Johansson naked, iPhone can make good quality videos, some sequel news, catch the new music video from pop group Girls’ Generation and a nice little video on getting friend-zoned! Continue reading

The Humanoids: Occupy This

It’s been about seven weeks since I last put together a Humanoids column. This week, though, between the Occupy movement and leaking complaints about Google’s strategy, there have been some interesting doings a-transpiring over the last week or so. That’s why I’m occupying The Humanoids column this week in order to get better answers to the burning questions. Specifically: What the hell is Occupy all about? Continue reading

The 30 Best Photos of Occupy

The Occupy movement started with Occupy Wall Street which kicked off on September 17th. Over one month later, the movement appears to be gaining momentum with similar protests starting up worldwide. The message may not be clear but the images of people rising up for greater social and economic equality between the 1% and the 99%. Here are some of the best images of the Occupy protests. Wednesday Link-Off: Zombie Attack

Between The Walking Dead season premiere and Halloween coming up, this week’s linkdump has all sorts of zombie stuff in it. Let’s kick this off with the very unzombie-like Kristen Stewart. But maybe that’s because she’s more into sparkly vampires instead of zombies. Of course, if the Twilight vampires and warewolves weren’t such wussy bitches, Kristen’s character would be a vampire or warewolf by now.

First, let’s give you the complete guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse. (New York Magazine)

Fortunately for the sane members of the public, the obsession with zombies has overshadowed the teenage obsession with sparkling vampires. But why exactly are people obsessed with zombies? (Grantland)

And the zombie apocalypse has hit home the most in Georgia where Atlanta has embraced its new role as the zombie capital of America. (New York Times)

After the jump, RIM tries to bounce back, Community wrinkles some brains and zombie Christopher Walken wants more cowbell. Continue reading
