Wallpapers of the Week: June 10, 2012

I like changing up my desktop wallpaper on a regular basis. My wallpaper at work is even a slideshow so I have a new wallpaper every thirty minutes to change things up ever so slightly. So to help you change things up for your work week, I’ve scoured Flickr for five wallpapers that are worth adding to your collection for this week. And since today is Jackie’s birthday, it’s an all Australia edition of WOTW. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: The Answers

Welcome back to the Sunday links. We skipped the Wednesday Link-Off because we were busy covering E3 and the Canadian Grand Prix. To make up for that, here’s Missy Peregrym who was one of the final four in our 2012 Hottest Canadian tournament.

There are few rules we hold ourselves to here. One of those is to feature any good article featuring Bill Murray. That includes this Q&A. (Esquire)

The CEO of Business Insider thinks that the digital revolution could hurt the TV industry just as much as print media. (Business Insider)

Many big college sports programs are accused of ignoring the “student” part of student-athlete. One of the examples of that is Memphis football player Dasmine Cathey who is being gifted an adequate education by the college so he can play football. (The Chronicle of Higher Education)

After the jump, how not to apologize for being a bad journalist, the numbers behind Star Trek’s red shirts and a look inside an F1 car. Continue reading

Mass Effect 3 Tipster Leaks New Multiplayer and Extended Cut DLC Info

A Reddit user named derptemp6698 was the first one to break news about the Rebellion DLC. His original Reddit post was almost three weeks before the accidental posting by Sony Hong Kong. Now he’s back with details of a new multiplayer DLC pack and an official looking description of the Extended Cut DLC. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Origin of Life

Alright, now we’re back on schedule. It’s another Saturday, so it’s time for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. So you could go watch the third Madagascar film, but I think it’s more worthwhile to check out the quasi-Alien prequel Prometheus. Sure the story is compelling but you got some eye candy courtesy of Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace (pictured).

After the jump, DC wants to follow Marvel’s superhero ensemble concept, some Prometheus related tidbits, take a look at the behind the scenes of The Amazing Spider-Man, first look at Pacific Rim, Charlie Sheen wasn’t #winning and an apocalypse started by the consumption of a single banana. E3 2012: Games and News Roundup

The news never stops at E3. All week, developers, publishers and manufacturers are releasing tidbits of information and unveiling new games. We had a roundup of some game news yesterday and we have more news for you to peruse today. We also have some of the latest details about the Wii U that Nintendo neglected to mention in either of their presentations. Continue reading

F1 Power Rankings: Canadian Grand Prix

After six races, we’ve seen six different race winners and six different drivers set the fastest lap of the race. It looks like removing downforce through the exhaust-blown diffuser ban has levelled the playing field as parity is at an all-time high. With any one of a number of drivers capable of winning any given Sunday, it’s hard to figure out who are the best drivers in F1 right now. I suppose that’s why this week’s F1 Power Ranking has so much change in it. Continue reading

2012 F1 Canadian GP: Drivers And Teams Primer

For the second part of our preview of the 2012 Formula One Canadian Grand Prix, we take a look at the drivers and teams who will be contesting this weekend’s race. There weren’t many changes as the front of the grid since last year’s race as the top four teams and Sauber retained their 2011 driver line-up. The other seven teams had at least one new driver join their team.

So today, we look at the drivers, teams and their 2012 seasons so far. Continue reading

E3 2012: Games Roundup

We’ve been focusing on the console manufacturers and the major publishers over the course of the first two days of E3. Today, we change the focus from the publisher to the developers. Not everyone gets to show off their game in a massive presentation with the eyes of the gaming world focused on it. Most developers make the press rounds to announce and promote their games. Here are a few of the bigger announcements and news updates from the first few days of E3. Continue reading
