The Nintendo press conference at E3 was really in two parts this year. The first part was Sunday’s Nintendo Direct video presentation which showed off some of the hardware behind their new Wii U console. E3 2012: The EA and Ubisoft Report
Because of our interest in what EA had to say about Mass Effect 3, we were eagerly anticipating this year’s EA press conference. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed. There were previews of Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Sim City and the usual EA Sports properties. Over on the Ubisoft side of things, we saw more of Assassin’s Creed 3 and the debut of a new game which looks so good that it could be a next gen game. Continue reading
E3 2012: The Sony Outlook
While Sony is the second console manufacturer to have their big E3 press conference, thanks to Nintendo pre-show video presentation, they were really the final company to show off their wares. With Nintendo showing off the new Wii U, Microsoft showing off their new Smart Glass app and a massive $5.5 billion net loss their 2012 fiscal year (ending March 31, 2012), Sony was expected to make a splash at E3. E3 2012: The Microsoft Outlook
There was a lot of hype heading into Microsoft’s E3 press conference. There was a promise of footage from the upcoming Halo 4. In the run up to E3, the biggest expected announcement was for Smart Glass which was believed to allow for media sharing between XBox 360s and (non-BlackBerry) mobile devices. The Mass Effect 3 Controversy: What Went Wrong And Why It’s Not Entitlement
Last Friday, I posted my spoiler-free review of Mass Effect 3. By going spoiler-free, I didn’t discuss many of the more controversial moments of ME3 as that would involve spoiling most of the game to give any sort of context. While many gamer complaints about the game are written-off by larger gaming media outlets as “gamer entitlement” or gamers looking for a “happy ending,” many gamers have valid complaints about what was promised by BioWare and what they actually shipped in March.

Video Game Review: Mass Effect 3 (or This Is It, Isn’t It)
A couple of months behind the rest of the world, I finally managed to finish playing Mass Effect 3. Being late to the party meant that I got to hear all the controversy over the ending and first day DLC.
