The Best of Occupy Tebow

The revolution will not be televised but rather posted on the internet. The media has been championing Tim Tebow as a great winner and essentially promoting him as the second coming for the Denver Broncos. His first start this season was 57 minutes of poor play followed by a comeback. His second start was utter garbage. Only then the media figured out that Tebow wasn’t the be all and end all of quarterbacks. Now, the people have taken to the ESPN comments section on an anti-Tebow article to show what they really think of Tebow.

F1 Power Rankings: Indian Grand Prix

With three races to go in the 2011 Formula One World Championship, both championships have been clinched. For the second year running, Sebastian Vettel is the World Drivers’ Champion and Red Bull Racing is the World Constructors’ Champion. Now, attention has turned to the fight for second place in the WDC as Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber are separated by 13 points for the right to be called the first loser. Hockey Fighting By The Numbers (Infographic)

F1 Power Rankings: Korean Grand Prix

So the 2011 World Drivers’ Championship was settled this past weekend at Suzuka as Sebastian Vettel took 3rd place to clinch his second championship. Now the focus turns to who will win the final four races of the season and who will finish second in the championship chase. The first of those final four races is the second Grand Prix at the Korean International Circuit. Will it be advantage Alonso as he attempts to repeat his 2010 victory or will Button win back-to-back races to cement his hold on 2nd. Continue reading →

F1 Power Rankings: Japanese Grand Prix

There are only five races to go in the 2011 Formula One World Championship. Sebastian Vettel leads the World Drivers’ Championship standings by 124 points over Jenson Button which means that he only needs to score one point over the final five races to win the title. McLaren says that they want to delay Vettel’s coronation for as long as possible. The only way to do that is to have Vettel taken out. Could we see McLaren sabotage or Hamilton used as a kamikaze driver (not that he needs the encouragement) for the final five races to help Button chase after the title? Continue reading →

NFL Week 4 Power Rankings

I had some technical difficulty last week in posting the Week 3 Power Rankings and picks but if you are super curious about the rankings I did reflect it in last week’s rankings.

I had some fun this week taking a look at some surprising and unsurprising stats about each team. This was much preferable than me talking about how regardless of how a team has performed I didn’t really like them. Anyway have fun with the rankings!

1. Green Bay Packers (Last Week #1, 4-0)
Unsurprising stat of the day: the Packers lead the NFL with 37 points scored per game.
Surprising stat of the day: Aaron Rodgers has more rushing TDs than James Starks and Ryan Grant combined.

Join The Lowdown Blog 2011-12 Fantasy Hockey Pool

It’s time once again for the annual Lowdown Blog Fantasy Hockey Pool. We’ve created our fantasy hockey league over on the TSN/ESPN fantasy website. It’s a public pool so anyone can join. As with last year, if we run out of space in the first pool, we’ll create a second one. It’s a head-to-head league with the winner of each match-up based on winning the most of the nine categories (G, A, +/-, PIM, SOG, STP [Special Teams Points], W, GAA, SV%) in play kinda like the old Yahoo pools we all used to play. Ten Worst Finishing Moves In The WWE Today

One thing I noticed over that short period where CM Punk made watching today’s WWE tolerable to watch again was that some finishing moves are awful. They either look like they lack punch or look ridiculous in the sense of “how can you pull that off?” I know that a key part of wrestling is for fans to suspend their disbelief like watching a TV show. NFL Week 3 Picks

Week 2 was a much better week picking games as I didn’t lose any of my top 5 picks. It would have been nice if reality TV star person Jesse Holley had ran a little harder and dove into the end zone but the Cowboys actually winning that game was a nice and refreshing ending given how that game went. The Cowboys really should have lost the game.

The same thing that happened to the Cowboys pretty much happened to the Bills who managed to pull out a victory at the last minute over the Oakland Raiders. Sadly they didn’t cover the spread and it was just a push but given that that game was 21-3 at half for Oakland, I’ll take the result.

The Steelers, Bucs, and Bengals all cover the spread in games that mostly went the way I expected. The Steelers crushed the Seahawks while the scrappy Bucs managed to pull off the comeback win against a sad little Vikings team. I did expect for Cincinnati to win outright (and they probably should have) but covering the spread is pretty sweet. So far, two weeks into the season I am 4-4-2 for the games I feel best about and a dismal 11-17-4 for all games. On to more crappy picks!
