Remember Ark Music Factory? They’re the soulless bastards that unleashed Rebecca Black on us. Well, with the encouragement of Good Morning America, they’re trying to make another teenager an overnight sensation. This time, CEO Patrice Wilson found his next superstar at a mall rather than thanks to her father’s wallet. This time, we’ve got Lexi St. George and her Ark-produced song Dancing to the Rhythm. God help us all. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Like A Boss
Two comedies hit the theatres this week. One is the certified fresh Horrible Bosses starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston. On the other end is the critically panned Kevin James comedy Zookeeper. Have fun at the movies this week folks… Anyway, kicking off this entry is Olivia Wilde in her latest photoshoot with Marie Claire. No she doesn’t appear in any of the aforementioned flicks.
After the jump, more Michael Bay plagiarized Michael Bay, revisiting Ridley Scott’s epic Kingdom of Heaven, Batman is bad for Gotham City, advertisers are ruining reruns of How I Met Your Mother, Field of Dreams 2 and David Choi’s latest music video. Continue reading
Worst of Music: Britney Spears – I Wanna Go
For this July 4th edition of the Worst of Music, I think it’s only appropriate that we look at the continuously falling musical star of one of America’s former sweethearts. Britney Spears shot to fame in the late 90s as jailbait but hasn’t held onto those heights since she married Kevin Federline. But nobody seems to have told her that her fifteen minutes are up. For example, she’s still releasing craptacular music and hoping her looks get her by with her new single I Wanna Go. Continue reading
Entertainment Link-Off: More Than Meets the Eye
I’m back! After spending a month being buried by books, I’m here again to post a weekly edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Huge thanks to Steve for covering for me during the month of June. Normally I would kick off the entry with someone involved with a big movie release but given that I’m not a huge fan of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, I think I’ll start off with someone that won’t be in the latest Transformers film. All three wide releases this week are critically panned, so there’s nothing really noteworthy, but apparently Katie Cassidy can be seen in some film called Monte Carlo, so here she is.
After the jump, some Transformers related links, a Sucker Punch drinking game, a nifty short film on plot devices, a Pixar-like take on The Rocketeer, a few movie trailers (including one mash-up) and Clara C’s new music video! Continue reading
Worst of Music: Katy Perry – Last Friday Night
So what happens when one of the day’s top artists gets annoyed with the YouTube sensation. She releases one of the crap songs off the end of her album as a single so she can make a music video mocking said YouTube sensation. And that’s how we’ve ended up with Katy Perry’s song Last Friday Night as this week’s WoM winner. It may not be the worst song in the world this week. It just has the least care put into it to make it music. Continue reading
Entertainment Link-Off: Bad Weekend
Sadly, this is my last entertainment linkdump for a while. I guess you’ll just have to make up for my indefinite absence with Alison Haislip. No, she’s not starring in anything this weekend but she’s on G4 which is good enough a reason. After all, the movies this weekend are Bad Teacher and Cars 2 which I’ve read aren’t worth the time of day.
The Killing season finale was bad but I might be the only person on earth who doesn’t think it was the worst finale of all-time. Bill Simmons is one of those folks saying it sucked and isn’t afraid to say it. (Grantland)
After the jump, Megan Fox fail, Star Wars win and the worst movies of the summer. Continue reading
Worst of Music: Jason Aldean – Dirt Road Anthem
There was a surprise in this week’s Billboard Hot 100. The #9 song wasn’t a hip-hop or dance track. It was actually a country song. But this isn’t just a regular country song. It’s the nearly impossible to comprehend hybrid of twangy southern country and rap. I never thought it would happen but it has and it definitely shouldn’t have. This week’s WoM winning offender is Jason Aldean with Dirt Road Anthem. Continue reading
Entertainment Link-Off: Green With Envy
I’m still covering the pop culture beat for Jackie but don’t worry because he’ll be back in July. In the meantime, here’s Blake Lively who is wearing far more clothes than the last batch of photos of hers that I saw.
After a publicity blitz that included TV ads, interviews and allegedly leaked alleged Blake Lively nude self-portraits, Green Lantern premiered this weekend. I’m guessing that being called a contender for worst movie of the year wasn’t what they were going for though. (Slate)
After the jump, the best of movies, the worst of movies and Conan’s best commencement speech in the history of the world. Continue reading
Worst of Music: Nicki Minaj – Super Bass
We’ve got a first-time WoM winner taking home the prize of this week’s Worst of Music. For the last few months, I keep hearing about this Nicki Minaj character and how she’s a good hip-hop artist and a looker to boot. This week, I discovered that both those statements are dangerous overstatements. As proof, I submit her WoM winning song Super Bass. Continue reading
Entertainment Link-Off: So Super
I’m doing an ELO? Yeah, Jackie’s busy this weekend so I’ve drawn in to replace him this week. So let’s make up for a lack of Jackie with Christina Hendricks. So when does Man Men come back?
Meta crossover promotion thingy of the year? Abed from NBC’s Community breaks down the 2011 Best Comedy Emmy award and picks a winner. (Variety)
After the jump, the worst actress in the world, all about Super 8 and the best of E3. Continue reading
