Guess who’s back? A couple of weeks after we had Ark Music Factory’s latest “star,” we have the return of Ark’s original internet sensation, Rebecca Black. She seems to have taken note of all the criticism lobbed her and Ark’s way from Friday and dismissed it. And that leads us to this week’s Worst of Music from Rebecca Black called My Moment.

I don’t really think this song deserves to be called a WoM. It’s so bland and generic sounding that it will never see the same YouTube fame that Friday did. However, we need to do this as a public service to Rebecca. It almost seems as though the viral success of Friday convinced her that she can make it in the music industry on the back of a legitimate single. However, it all seems to be delusions of grandeur. Her song sounds like a giant “fuck you” to her “haters” rather than an attempt at a legitimate single. The problem with a “fuck you” song as her second single is that the criticism of her first song is almost entirely warranted. And for a “fuck you” song, it sure is light and happy sounding. Even Cee Lo saying fuck you in a R&B song carried more panache than this. Eminem, she ain’t. And I know that I said that it’s bland and generic sounding but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck.

So congrats, Rebecca. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.
