Wednesday Link-Off: Turkey Day Hangover

It was a slow news weekend thanks to the Columbus Day holiday in America and Thanksgiving in Canada. However, we still have enough for a linkdump. First, since it was Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday, let’s start with Canadian model Rachelle Goulding.

When a respected business publication like Bloomberg questions a party’s supposed fiscal conservatism, it’s time to question what that party actually stands for. They’ve found that the Republicans aren’t actually as fiscally responsible as they claim. (Bloomberg)

Mass Effect 3 Retaliation DLC: The Complete Breakdown

Last Thursday, BioWare announced the release of the new Retaliation multiplayer DLC for Mass Effect 3. While it had a nice sizzle reel and listed new enemies, characters, equipment, updated maps and more, it was definitely lacking in detail of what was in the pack. We’ve been perusing the internet and have compiled a detailed breakdown of everything that is confirmed as part of the DLC and all the leaked info about the DLC that BioWare isn’t telling you.

F1 Japanese GP: And This Changes Everything

We all figured that the battle for the World Drivers’ Championship would be tight as Alonso fought to keep his slower Ferrari F2012 ahead of Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull RB8. However, things change quickly in Formula One. Vettel won the race and scored maximum points while Alonso failed to finish. The result is a four point Alonso lead. Elsewhere in Formula One, the silly season picture was clarified as most seats for the 2013 season were filled and there has been quite a bit of news about current and prospective future F1 venues. Entertainment Link-Off: Here We Go Again

Steve can breathe a sigh of relief since I’m back this weekend for another edition of the Entertainment Link-Off. Out this weekend is the sequel Taken 2. Now apparently this film has lost all the buzz and fun from the first film and is nothing but an empty shell of an action film; however it does have Maggie Grace in it. So for eye candy purposes, it might still be worth checking out.

Man Lab Showdown: Blake Lively vs. Scarlett Johansson

Normally, we plan our Man Lab Showdown match-ups well in advance. However, Ryan Reynolds’ sudden marriage to Blake Lively changed our plans. The wedding came as a surprise to us because the pair have been dating for less than a year. This is Reynolds’ second marriage. His first marriage was to Scarlett Johansson. This leads us to this month’s obvious Showdown pairing.

BioWare Announces Mass Effect 3 Retaliation Multiplayer DLC

Fresh off the release of today’s Mass Effect 3 v1.04 patch, BioWare announced the long-rumoured Retaliation DLC for ME3’s multiplayer. While BioWare is a little short on specifics of what is being added, we know that the Collectors (the antagonists from Mass Effect 2) are being added as an enemy faction. Several maps will see environmental hazards for the players to deal with. The DLC will also add achievement-like “challenges” which allow the player to unlock special rewards. As per usual with MP DLCs, new characters, weapons and gear are being added. A more detailed run down is available at the BioWare Blog.

Between the patch and the DLC, BioWare is making one last big play to revive a slowly dying multiplayer community. The buzz online makes it sound like the community is almost as excited as they were at launch.

The DLC is free and drops on Tuesday, October 9th.
