June 22nd Monday Night Raw Live Blog

Welcome to our second Monday Night Raw semi-live blog. Like our last live blog, we’ll be on a 15 minute delay because we’re watching Canadian TV. On tonight’s Raw, Donald Trump will hold court on the first Raw episode under his ownership. In his first act as Raw owner, Trump announced that tonight’s show will be commerical-free on the USA Network in America. Will the same hold true in Canada on The Score? We also have a big and likely bloody main event as Randy Orton will defend his WWE Title against Triple H in a Last Man Standing match. Anything can happen in the WWE, but will the same be said about Raw is Trump? Continue reading

F1 British GP: I Give Up On TSN and Jarno Trulli

For the final time, the British Grand Prix was held at Silverstone. Sebastian Vettel took the win in a Red Bull one-two finish. Sadly, though, this won’t be the last Grand Prix aired on TSN. Once again, they managed to bring their coverage down a notch. Continue reading

FIA Starts Legal Action Against FOTA

As I predicted earlier today, the FIA will be taking legal action against FOTA over their proposed breakaway series. The FIA claims that the FOTA teams have breached contractual obligations and violated competition laws. They also singled out Ferrari in their legal action for their breach of commercial agreements with the FIA. Continue reading

2009 NHL Awards Roundup

With the most important trophy in the NHL decided last Friday’s game seven, the hockey world donned their suits for the NHL awards. For the first time, the awards ceremony has left Toronto for the warm weather and legalized brothels of Las Vegas. However, the new location didn’t necessarily mean new faces picking up hardware. FOTA Announces F1 Breakaway Series

The Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) has dropped a bombshell ahead of tomorrow’s announcement of the final entry list for the 2010 Formula One World Championship. In a move reminiscent of the CART/IRL split, FOTA announced on Thursday night that they would form their own breakaway series starting in 2010. Continue reading

Canadian GP To Return Next Year?

With the 2010 Formula One World Championship schedule to be released next week, it’s crunch time for promoters looking to get a Grand Prix on the calendar. After a year’s absence from the rotation, Canada looks to make a return to Formula One. But another group is might want its hands on a big race in Montreal. Continue reading

Has Vince McMahon Lost It?

If you haven’t heard the news, you’re probably better for it. Vince McMahon has sold Monday Night Raw to Donald Trump. That would make it the third consecutive summer that Vince and the WWE has tried to stave off the summer ratings slump by pulling a stunt that tries to get them mainstream attention. Balsillie’s Bid For Coyotes Is Rejected

The old saying is that the third time is the charm. Jim Balsillie has attempted to buy the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Nashville Predators but failed both times. In his third attempt to buy an NHL franchise, the RIM CEO targeted the Phoenix Coyotes for a move to Hamilton. However, just like the last two tries, Jim was denied a chance to make it seven. Continue reading

Team Seattle Finishes 30th at Le Mans

Slow and steady may not have won the race for Patrick Dempsey and the #81 Team Seattle – Advanced Engineering Ferrari F430, but it did get them a solid performance. Dempsey and teammates Joe Foster and Don Kitch Jr. completed 301 laps over 24 hours to finish 9th in the GT2 class of 17 starters and 30th overall. Continue reading

Hockey (Last) Night in Canada: Hoisting the Cup

It all came down to this. After Pittsburgh’s win in game 6, we headed back to Motown for a final definitive game to determine the Stanley Cup champions. While the Red Wings had the home ice advantage, the Penguins were hoping to ruin the party at Joe Louis Arena. Continue reading
