The History of Hulk Hogan’s Entrance Music

I know I’ve been overloading the pro wrestling post lately but I had good inspiration for this one. The gang at The Big Lead weren’t fond of the Hulkster’s new theme song from last Monday’s TNA Impact. Interestingly, that theme song was the music for WCW’s reformed NWO in 1999 and 2000.

Anyway, if there’s any wrestler that revolutionized music in wrestling, it was Hulk Hogan. His use of Eye of the Tiger as a theme song started the widespread use of entrance themes being used. If there is anyone who is as synonymous with a song as the original artist, it’s Hulk Hogan. So here’s a look at Hulk’s music through the years and the stories behind that music. Continue reading

Formula 1: Rules Changes Changing Cars

As we’ve mentioned before in our periodic F1 updates on the blog, Formula One has banned refuelling during the race for the 2010 season. Teams now have to carry enough fuel to run the 300+ km of race distance or otherwise suffer an embarrassing end of their grand prix on the side of the road. However, that isn’t the only rules change happening this season and teams are plotting rules changes for 2011, as well. Continue reading

Canada Names Olympic Hockey Team

Given the amount of talent that Canada boasts at a professional level, very few players were guaranteed to have a roster spot. Ranking The NHL’s Third Jerseys

The NHL was the first of the big four North American sports leagues to popularize the use of the third, or alternate, jersey. Baseball never really had a formal policy governing jerseys (or at least not one that has been well documented) while the NBA and NFL saw third jerseys come into use after the NHL. Given the long(-ish) history of third jerseys in the NHL, it should come as no surprise that 23 teams have some form of alternate outfit. However, while all jerseys are created equally, some are more equal than others.

So here’s a look at the best and worst that the stars of the NHL will don on special occasions. Continue reading

At the sharp end of the grid, Mercedes GP appear to have a familiar face coming in as their lead driver. Continue reading

Tiger Woods Link-Off

Over the last two weeks, the Tiger Woods saga has capitvated the entire world. It’s a story that started in the sports world with a little article in The National Enquirer and exploded when he crashed into a tree. So to celebrate all the great moments that came out of the crash, here’s a collection of the web’s greatest Tiger Woods stories from the last couple of weeks.

To kick things off, here’s Elin Nordegren.

Before we get into the links, it might help to know all the players. But with almost a dozen mistresses, you’d need a scorecard to keep track of everyone. Fortunately, I found one. (NY Daily News)

The only problem with that program of the players is that it doesn’t include the companionship that Tiger may have paid for. (New York Post)

Naturally, the mistresses are quite upset and quite sorry about the whole thing. (The Sun) Would they really go back and change things if they could? Not with the 15 minutes they’re getting.

After the jump, more Tiger links and some Tiger videos. Continue reading

US Congress Gets Bored, Tries To Force College Football Playoff

In a sign that the Obama health care bill was the only productive thing that Congress has to do in 2009, a House of Representatives subcommittee has approved a piece of legislation designed to force NCAA Division 1 FBS (formerly 1-A) football to determine a national champion through a playoff instead of the current BCS format. Is this really the most important crisis facing the United States of America? Continue reading
