Lowdown Radio Classic: May 26, 2009

To celebrate the start of the fourth season of Pinks: All Out on Speed Channel, here’s a classic episode of The Lowdown radio show. On this episode, Steve conducts a full-length interview with Rich Christensen. Rich is the creator and producer of Pinks, Pinks: All Out, Pass Time, Drag Race High and many more TV shows. He also tours the continent with his Arm Drop Live racing series. In this interview, Steve and Rich talk about Arm Drop Live racing at Toronto Motorsports Park, his shows on Speed Channel, four-wide drag racing at Charlotte’s zMax Dragway, the future of Pinks and much more. Also in this episode are news stories about a bet gone wrong and a robbery gone wrong and Jackie’s single of the week. It’s Steve’s favourite episode of The Lowdown and not one you want to miss.

Lowdown BlogCast: July 20, 2010

It’s time for a back to the basics episode of The Lowdown BlogCast. In this episode, Steve reviews the new Green Day: Rock Band video game and the boys talk about video games in Australia. That’s followed up by the obligatory LeBron James discussion as the guys talk about the ridiculousness of the situation, what this means for future free agents in the NBA and what the next move for the Toronto Raptors should be. That segues into entertainment in which features a man named Band as Jackie’s single of the week. Newark, New Jersey, is represented in It Came From YouTube while the Billboard Hot 100 gets another plug in the Worst of Music. The NHL takes over from there as the boys discuss Carrie Fisher (or is it Underwood) and the near certainty (as of taping) that Ilya Kovalchuk would join the LA Kings. That leads to a discussion of players that can’t handle the pressures of playing in the spotlight. The show wraps with a discussion of the World Cup final and who was at fault for the Dutch loss. In total, it’s 100 minutes of Lowdown insanity. It’s more than a regular World Cup that isn’t officiated by Howard Webb.

Best of The Lowdown BlogCast: July 6, 2010

The guys took a week off from podcasting for Canada Day. This week, they replace themselves with this edition of the best of the third season of The Lowdown. On this episode, the boys head off to the UWO campus rec to get themselves in shape for summer. Jackie sets up The Lowdown’s FaceBook page and even preps one for Steve. Jackie takes Steve and our listeners for a tour of London from campus to downtown to the 401 and even EOA (East of Adelaide). Filling in the gaps, we have the Lady Gaga / Christopher Walken / Eric Cartman mashup of Poker Face. The boys also play a little sports play featuring Mats Sundin, Jeff Garcia, and Barack Obama. The show is capped off with Steve’s sing-along to end highway profanity. It’s six classic segments and 35 minutes of the best Lowdown fun and insanity.

Lowdown BlogCast: June 22, 2010

Sorry for the short delay but here’s the latest edition of The Lowdown podcast. The World Cup inspired Steve’s latest strange opening segment. Inspired by Shakira’s performance at the opening ceremony, the guys take a look at examples of self-name checking in song and try to figure out the general douchiness of it. They cover everything from Shakira to Bo Diddley to Vanilla Ice in this segment. That’s followed up with two of Jackie’s singles of the week, It Came From YouTube and the Worst of Music. Steve then talks about a trio of stories showing a lack of common sense: Guys thinking they have a shot with hot women, the Catholic Church making no changes after another abuse scandal, and the 16-year-old girl who tried to sail around the world. The show end with sports where the guys discuss the Chicago Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup and Chris Pronger’s impact on the series. In total, it’s 100 minutes of vintage Lowdown fun and insanity in this exclusive podcast.

Lowdown Radio: May 25, 2010

For the second-last time, The Lowdown hit the airwaves of London, Ontario. It was another summer themed episode as the boys spent most of the episode talking about cars and driving. The episode started with a look at some of the best driving songs ever made. They follow this up with a pair of news stories about a teacher in a goth band (which degenerates into a discussion about drunken debauchery) and a soccer player who got carded for dropping dead. In entertainment, Jackie’s got an all-NBC single of the week while It Came From YouTube has a superstar cover of Don’t Stop Believing. After the break is the return of the Car Wall with four different types of cars are added. The show is capped off with the return of Oddsmakers. It’s a crammed 28 minutes that ranks among our best episodes of the season.

On Lowdown Extra, there’s another song for the greatest driving songs list, another car for the Car Wall and a motorsports question added to Oddsmakers. The cuts of the greatest driving songs are longer. Two more stories make the news including one about cars. The Worst of Music returns to the original intro but has a new band called 3Oh!3 picking up the award. After the break in the Extra, the boys (mostly Steve) go off the deep end as they breakdown a review of the show sent to Steve by a radio station that the radio show is syndicated to. The boys pick apart everything from the lack of logic of the reviewer to the grammar of the review. Basically, they reviewed the review and had a laugh doing so. In all, this week’s Extra is a whopping 105 minutes. That’s nearly two hours of continuous Lowdown insanity. As always, the action is uncut and extremely uncensored.

Lowdown Extra: May 11, 2010

After a week’s delay, it’s time for the latest edition of The Lowdown Extra. The latest uncut and uncensored edition of The Lowdown is the full edition of our most recent episode. The episode starts with Jackie creating a Facebook page for the show and blog. While he was at it, he made one for Steve which caused all hell to break loose. The problems with Steve’s Facebook profile prompted Jackie to take a look at the best prank calls of all-time. (If you listen to the show, it’ll make sense). The news looks at sex, drug, and… Aliens? As strange as it sounds, the gang talks about extraterrestrials and the apocalypse. Entertainment features Tyler Hilton as Jackie’s single of the week, The Wheel Wells from YouTube, and B.o.B. winning the Worst of Music (which has a shitty new intro). Jackie tops entertainment with his exclusive review of Iron Man 2. After the break, the boys attempt to look at the 2010 UEFA Champions League finals. After largely failing at that, they go back to YouTube with some funny hockey clips including a Jaroslav Halak song and more of Randy Moller’s goal calls.

In all, it’s 63 minutes of Lowdown action. It’s the longest Lowdown ever. As always, it comes to you uncut and uncensored.

Lowdown Radio: May 11, 2010

The third-last episode of the third radio season may have been at a slow time of year but things are seldom slow at Lowdown HQ. On this episode, Jackie creates a Facebook page for the show and blog. While he was at it, he made one for Steve which caused all hell to break loose. The problems with Steve’s Facebook profile prompted Jackie to take a look at the best prank calls of all-time. (If you listen to the show, it’ll make sense). The news features a couple of quick stories. Entertainment has the usual suspects (Jackie’s single and It Came From YouTube) and Jackie’s exclusive review of Iron Man 2. After the break, the boys attempt to look at the 2010 UEFA Champions League finals. After largely failing at that, they go back to YouTube with some funny hockey clips including a Jaroslav Halak song and more of Randy Moller’s goal calls. It’s 28 great minutes of Lowdown fun and randominity that’s one of the better efforts of the season.

After the break is all sorts of baseball talk. There’s more banter about everything including a lengthy discussion about Bud Selig’s proposed floating realignment. In all, there is 67 minutes more of Lowdown Extra action this week. There’s over three times the amount of action in this edition of the Extra than they let us have on radio. And, unlike the radio version of the show, the Extra comes to you uncut and uncensored.

Lowdown Radio Classic: April 1, 2008

For this week’s Lowdown classic, we present to you the original Lowdown April Fools’ episode. The episode starts with the boys talking about the show’s new syndication deal in Lauenberg, Germany. That’s followed up with Jackie’s interview with the head coordinator of UWO’s ATTAC Life program. However, that interview is a point of contention between the boys. The news is next with Steve talking about the UWO USC ban on cigarette sales on-campus and The Gazette spoof issue. After the break, it’s the Adventures of Steve and Rich as the UWO USC President-Elect takes the UWO Board of Governors member for a night on the town. Our Steve then takes the opportunity to talk hockey and the Maple Leafs season. After another break is the debut of Steve’s very first album which he follows with a live performance. Well, that was the plan for the show. It didn’t go quite as smoothly as that description makes it sound. You’ll just have to listen to find out how badly things went. And if you thought the censors didn’t like the most recent episode of The Lowdown, the censored version of this episode had some 30 bleeped profanities. However, this download isn’t the censored version. It’s the completely uncensored version with no bleeps, just insanity.
