Last week, BioWare released their second single-player DLC mission for Mass Effect 3. The Leviathan DLC was accidentally leaked in the code for June’s Extended Cut DLC. Two months later, we finally got our hands on Leviathan. The new mission takes the game for a dark and eerie turn over its three-hour play time for the price of $10. Those statistics put it right in line with Mass Effect 2’s Lair of the Shadow Broker but can ME3’s first post-launch single-player DLC stand up to the epic Shadow Broker DLC? Continue reading

Before The Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC: The Indoctrination Theory – A Documentary Extended Cut
In our examination of the controversy surrounding the release and ending of Mass Effect 3, we included a brief examination of the Indoctrination Theory and included the Indoctrination Theory documentary. We looked at it again after the release of the Extended Cut DLC but we may have been wrong to declare The Indoctrination Theory dead. Ahead of tomorrow’s release of the Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC (the first paid ME3 DLC since the From Ashes DLC), Julian Kluk of CleverNoob.com is back with the third part of his epic documentary series examining Mass Effect 3’s ending with The Indoctrination Theory – A Documentary Extended Cut. Sunday Link-Off: Put Out The Flame, The Party’s Over
The Olympics end today with the closing ceremony. I’d like to say that I’m looking forward to it but the musical line-up makes me think the mute button will be close at hand. Anyway, let’s start off with Canadian bronze medal winning women’s soccer player Kaylyn Kyle.
Mitt Romney selected Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential nominee. Both the Republicans and Democrats are excited about this because Ryan is a right-wing ultra-conservative nut job. (The New Republic)
Toronto Star columnist Damien Cox thinks we shouldn’t complain about the Canadian women’s soccer team getting jobbed by a ref. He also only watched the first 35 minutes of the game so his opinion is not based on any sort of fact. (Deadspin)
Speaking of not basing statements on facts, NBC Olympics supremo Dick Ebersol thinks there’s nothing wrong with how NBC is covering the Olympics. (The Big Lead)
After the jump, the worst countries in the Olympics, a possible massive OHL controversy and more Call Me Maybe (sorry about that). Continue reading
Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut: An End, Once And For All?
We’re one week removed from the release of the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC. People have had their opportunity to rant or rave about the new endings and put things into perspective. Even I needed to take a couple of days to unwind after powering through the final three hours of the game as I tried to reconcile what I saw and what I expected with what needed to be done and what BioWare could do.
Today, I examine the new scenes that BioWare has added to Mass Effect 3 in the Extended Cut to determine if they have solved the problems most had with the original ending. Continue reading
It’s Here! Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut Launches Now
It’s 5:00 AM EDT at Lowdown HQ. So why do I have a post going live right now? Because, per Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble, XBox 360 users are able to flip on their systems and download the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC right now. Sorry, PS3 and PC players (like me). The 360 gets first crack while the rest of us have to wait. Continue reading
Before Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut: The Indoctrination Theory – A Documentary Part 2

BioWare Officially Announces Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut
Seemingly out of nowhere, BioWare officially announced the upcoming release of the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC which will be available for download on June 26th (this coming Tuesday). This is the much-anticipated updated ending to ME3 announced in April after fans complained about the lack of closure and plot holes contained in the ending of Mass Effect 3 that shipped with on the game disc.
After the jump, we have all of the official details from BioWare and our analysis. Continue reading
Sunday Link-Off: The Answers
Welcome back to the Sunday links. We skipped the Wednesday Link-Off because we were busy covering E3 and the Canadian Grand Prix. To make up for that, here’s Missy Peregrym who was one of the final four in our 2012 Hottest Canadian tournament.
There are few rules we hold ourselves to here. One of those is to feature any good article featuring Bill Murray. That includes this Q&A. (Esquire)
The CEO of Business Insider thinks that the digital revolution could hurt the TV industry just as much as print media. (Business Insider)
Many big college sports programs are accused of ignoring the “student” part of student-athlete. One of the examples of that is Memphis football player Dasmine Cathey who is being gifted an adequate education by the college so he can play football. (The Chronicle of Higher Education)
After the jump, how not to apologize for being a bad journalist, the numbers behind Star Trek’s red shirts and a look inside an F1 car. Continue reading

A Reddit user named derptemp6698 was the first one to break news about the Rebellion DLC. His original Reddit post was almost three weeks before the accidental posting by Sony Hong Kong. Now he’s back with details of a new multiplayer DLC pack and an official looking description of the Extended Cut DLC. Continue reading
E3 2012: Games Roundup
We’ve been focusing on the console manufacturers and the major publishers over the course of the first two days of E3. Today, we change the focus from the publisher to the developers. Not everyone gets to show off their game in a massive presentation with the eyes of the gaming world focused on it. Most developers make the press rounds to announce and promote their games. Here are a few of the bigger announcements and news updates from the first few days of E3. Continue reading
