Every so often, we take a look at the most epic fails from the week that was in the Fails of the Week. This week, we have five pictures, GIFs and videos that we think are the most epic fails of the week.
Sunday Link-Off: Law and Disorder
It’s Sunday which means that it’s time for some links. I’ve dug up some news-ish links which includes a return of the Rob Ford crack tape story. I missed that story. Anyway, let’s start the day off with Australian model Bridget Malcolm.
Just when you thought that the Rob Ford crack tape scandal was over, it turns out that the police have the man selling the video and probably the video too. (Toronto Star)
Warren Kinsella says that the Toronto Police actually do have the Rob Ford crack video and it’s real. (Warren Kinsella)
In case you didn’t hear, Toronto Police shot a teenager with a knife on an empty streetcar nine times before tasering him. Not even slightly excessive force. (Vice)
Entertainment Link-Off: Show Me the Money
Jackie’s off this weekend and I’ve drawn in. As tends to be the case when I do the ELO, I don’t have any good new releases to talk about this weekend. Sure, Denzel’s got a new movie with Marky Mark but it doesn’t sound like 2 Guns is a great film. If you’d rather completely melt your brain out your ear, you can always check out The Smurfs 2. Poor NPH getting stuck with this.
Let’s start off today’s links with UFC Women’s champ and Ultimate Fighter coach Ronda Rousey.

Inspired by the Globe and Mail’s caption writing person, we waste our time writing funny picture captions for some of the more interesting photos we come across when blogging. So here are some of the best pictures from the past week with a funny (-ish) caption. Continue reading
Rogue Legacy Review: Everybody Rogue
With the games release schedule decidedly quiet during the summer, it’s a good time for everyone, including would-be games critics, to catch up on games that you might have missed during the first months of the year. To be quite honest, I’m not sure how many of this year’s big releases I’ve finished.
I’m starting with the current indie darling du jour, Rogue Legacy. It’s received heaps of praise from critics but what do I, a gamer of average skill and free time, think of the latest big thing on the indie game scene?

Wednesday Link-Off: The News That’s Fit For Print
Well, you definitely can’t say that the last few days have been boring news day. We have a few interesting stories to catch you up on. Let’s start today’s links with Romanian model Andreea Diaconu.
Mitt Romney is quite insistent that he never said that 47% of the American population would vote for the President no matter what because they rely on government handouts. (Mother Jones)
One juror in the George Zimmerman trial explains how the jury arrived at their verdict. (Think Progress)
Here’s a story that could and should get big soon. Military doctors are misdiagnosing vets and causing them to lose all their benefits. (WTKR)
Phil Fish vs. Marcus Beer Says More About Games Journalism than Either Man
The weekend’s big gaming news story wasn’t about a new game or another major announcement but a feud between two gaming personalities.
On one side was Marcus Beer, GameTrailer’s Annoyed Gamer, who criticized prominent indie developers Phil Fish and Jonathan Blow for not commenting on Microsoft allowing indie game self-publishing on the Xbox One. On the other side was the aforementioned Phil Fish who didn’t take kindly to Beer lobbing personal insults at him on video.
However, I don’t think that the takeaway from this feud should be anything about either Beer or Fish. I think how this feud started says more about how this gaming journalism works and why it might be irreparably broken.
F1 Hungarian GP: I Went to an F1 Race and a Parade Broke Out
This year’s Hungarian Grand Prix was a downright stonker of a race featuring a grand total of five on-track passes (two passes on equal tyres and no DRS). And you wonder why I’m constantly down on this race and this track. Lewis Hamilton qualified for the race on the pole and shockingly managed to convert that into a win on the notoriously hard to pass track.
Fortunately, if you were looking for excitement, there was all sorts of interesting Formula One news since the last race. As is often the case at the Hungaroring, you just have to look off-track for the action.
Sunday Link-Off: A Different Take
Well, it looks like today will be a busy writing day for me. I have a Formula One post to write for tomorrow. There’s a gaming journalism column that’s probably going to be shorter than I’d like but I’ll try to do it well. Not to mention that I have a couple of reviews that I want up this week.
First, though, it’s time for me to put together the Sunday set of links. Let’s kick this one off with Irina Shayk.
Russia might be very much anti-homosexual but Patrick Burke, founder of You Can Play, says that Russia’s laws don’t mean that countries should punish their athletes by forcing a boycott of the Sochi Olympics. (BuzzFeed)
Bill O’Reilly is saying ridiculous things again. In other news, the sun rose this morning. MSNBC’s Chris Hayes used facts to explain why O’Reilly is wrong. (Mediaite)
Michael Malice takes a rare look inside North Korea and brings back real stories of the people there. (Reason)
