Entertainment Link-Off: A Twist In My Story

Charlize-TheronIt’s Seth Macfarlane vs. Angelina Jolie at the box office this weekend. While both films are currently panned by critics, at least Jolie has the advantage in the fact that everyone seems to love her performance as Malificent. Anyway, Macfarlane’s flick, A Million Ways to Die in the West is loaded with star power and he got Charlize Theron to be his leading lady. So let’s start off the ELO with her.

After the jump, watch Harry Potter get friendzoned, the Jurassic World rumours are true, Seth Rogen channels his inner Pixar, apparently it is legal to wander around NYC topless, and Hollywood is teaching guys how to get the girl the wrong way. Continue reading

fan bingbingSummer blockbusters are in full force. Just a week after the release of Godzilla, X-Men: Days of Future Past has made its way to the big screen to rave reviews. Despite some continuity issues, it is one of the best entries in the franchise. You can also catch Fan Bingbing as Blink in the film.

After the jump, some more X-Men related news, Edgar Wright is no longer working on his passion project, listen to Morgan Freeman on helium, Will Ferrell jams with RCHP, Jimmy Fallon does a nip-sync with Terry Crews and listen to the newest track from Ed Sheeran’s upcoming album. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Going Nuclear

elizabeth olsenAfter a lengthy wait, it’s finally here! Godzilla is back on the big screen and yes it is way better than that 1998 travesty. Though I have to warn viewers, if you’re only in it for big fight/action sequences, you might be disappointed. Anyway, the cast for the movie is pretty solid and you can catch Elizabeth Olsen in part of that ensemble.

After the jump, news on other monster flicks, a look into the 2014 fall TV season, the decline of movie-going experiences, don’t blink or you’ll miss The Flash and catch the fan made trailer for Akira. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Love Thy Neighbour

halston sageThis weekend marks the release of Neighbours starring Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne and Zac Efron. As I mentioned before, I got a chance to catch it last week and it is hilarious! As of right now, it looks like the raunchy comedy is going to dethrone Spider-Man from the top stop at the box office. Sure there are plenty of laughs in the movie, but there is also some good eye candy courtesy of Halston Sage.

After the jump, Hugh Jackman might do X-Men: Apocalypse and the next Wolverine movie back-to-back, there are 7 authors that took longer to write their books compared to George R.R. Martin, Community got canned by NBC, Power Rangers might be making a comeback, breaking down why people watch The Big Bang Theory and listen to Kina Grannis’ Elements in its entirety! So in Australia, there was a special advance screening weekend of Neighbours starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. I gotta say, that film is hilarious! You also get to see Rose Byrne and her comedic chops at work once again! So let’s kick it all off with her.

emma stoneIn theatres this weekend, you can catch Johnny Depp in his out of body experience in Transcendence. If you are in Australia however you can catch The Amazing Spider-Man 2!!! HA! First dibs on a blockbuster compared to the folks in North America. I gotta say, they managed to balance multiple villains this time much better than Sam Raimi’s Spidey 3. Anyway, let’s kick it off with the actress who portrays Spider-Man’s main love interest, Emma Stone.

After the jump, a look at the chance of Spider-Man appearing in an Avengers movie, Tron 3 is still in the works, some X-Men tidbits, an alternate ending to Frozen that would have easily fit into the Marvel Universe and Emma Stone displays her signature talent.

Entertainment Link-Off: Choose Your Destiny

shailene-woodley-instyleIn theatres this weekend are two films that didn’t quite live up to the hype. Draft Day and Rio 2 are going to battle each other out in North America. Meanwhile over in Aussieland, Divergent is finally out! Think of it as Hunger Games lite, but it’s still quite entertaining. So once again, I’ll use this as an excuse to kick it all off with the film’s leading lady Shailene Woodley.

After the jump, some tidbits on the upcoming Transformers flick, Marvel is doing very well in the movie business, waste some time with The Raid 2 online game, check out some red band trailers and Drake goes undercover for Jimmy Kimmel. Continue reading
