To celebrate the start of the fourth season of Pinks: All Out on Speed Channel, here’s a classic episode of The Lowdown radio show. On this episode, Steve conducts a full-length interview with Rich Christensen. Rich is the creator and producer of Pinks, Pinks: All Out, Pass Time, Drag Race High and many more TV shows. He also tours the continent with his Arm Drop Live racing series. In this interview, Steve and Rich talk about Arm Drop Live racing at Toronto Motorsports Park, his shows on Speed Channel, four-wide drag racing at Charlotte’s zMax Dragway, the future of Pinks and much more. Also in this episode are news stories about a bet gone wrong and a robbery gone wrong and Jackie’s single of the week. It’s Steve’s favourite episode of The Lowdown and not one you want to miss.

The Best of Barrett-Jackson 2010

This week is the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It’s the premier classic and rare car auction in the world. It’s the sort of thing that rich people go to for buying new status symbols and where real men go to drool over what basically is automotive erotica. It’s basically a week-long celebration of the car where gearheads are king. So to celebrate the year’s biggest car show where the cars and not the manufacturers are the stars, here are some of the best cars going on the auction block this year. Continue reading

The Lowdown Extra – Complete Rich Christensen Interview

Tonight on Speed Channel, Pinks All Out will air its event taped at the zMax Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina at 8:00 PM. This is a big episode of All Out because it will feature the first televised four-wide drag race. We talked about the prospect of four-wide racing, changes made for this season of Pinks All Out, his Arm Drop Live drag race weekends, working for Speed Channel, and much more.

F1 British GP: I Give Up On TSN and Jarno Trulli

For the final time, the British Grand Prix was held at Silverstone. Sebastian Vettel took the win in a Red Bull one-two finish. Sadly, though, this won’t be the last Grand Prix aired on TSN. Once again, they managed to bring their coverage down a notch. Continue reading

F1 Turkey: Of Brawn, Boycotts, and TSN2

Another round of the 2009 F1 circus and another Jenson Button master class. Or should I call it a Brawn master class? Button won his sixth grand prix of the season going away. However, there was a chance that it wasn’t to be and I’m not talking about Sebastien Vettel. Meanwhile, Canada wishes TSN would just go away and give F1 coverage to someone else. Continue reading

An Evening With Rich Christensen

When I interviewed Rich back on April 14th, I kept looking for the right word to describe him.  He would say something that would take me back a bit and I couldn’t think of the right word to describe it.  It was intense but that wasn’t the right word.  He wasn’t preachy, far from it. Although I’m not entirely sure my editing skill did him justice on that front.  The perfect word dawned on me as I edited the interview: Passionate. Continue reading

F1 Malaysia: TSN’s Coverage Improves…

… But that improvement didn’t come through anything that they did.  TSN lucked into the fact that yesterday’s Malaysian Grand Prix turned out as it did, otherwise it would have been as big a train wreck as last week’s. Continue reading
